Topic: Pregnancy Books Posted: 11 March 2009 at 11:18pm |
What pregnancy books would people recommend? I have the NZ Pregnancy Book on watchlisted on trademe but I'm not sure what it covers. I'm looking for anatomy/physiology on pregnancy and birth options. Any suggestions and recommendations?

what to expect when you're expecting is a goodie... I had heaps but can't remember the names now. I got heaps of books out of libraury as well, esp ones about different birth options cos wanted to read LOTS about it...

The NZ preg book is good - it covers nearly everything - some things I would have liked to have a bit more of an indepth answer, but I think it is really worth getting as it is a New Zealand book and so is very relelvant not like some of the American books..

I agree with both of the posters above me, the 'What to Expect When Expecting' book answers all the random questions and the 'NZ Pregnancy Book' pertains more to the NZ Healthcare system.

I got the Ozzy edition of what to expect when you're expecting and the NZ pregnancy guide. I've found both really good.
Expecting - good month by month layout, loads of question and answer format which is easy to digest
NZPreg - really informative and relevant, breaks down by trimester and my personal pick out of the two.

I have quite a few pregnancy books, but the one that has really helped me get my head around things is oh baby...birth, babies & motherhood by Kathy Fray. It is a NZ book as well and I've found it easy to read and really informative.

I had Oh baby too and it was great for birth details. I found it went a little more indepth than the NZ pregnancy guide which I found a little too simplistic. Oh Baby has a really good section for looking after newborns too.
