hi all
i came off pill (monofeme) May this year and have been TTC with #1. Had normal period June and July, then a very light 3-day period Aug and Sept, no Oct period. Had dr appointment last week and got blood tests done, to find hormones normal. how long can i expect to wait before period regulates?
Anyone else experiencing this also?

It can take a couple of months to regulate itself. Some people get back to normal quite soon and others take a little longer. A 3 day period may be perfectly normal for you, it doesn't have to be longer than that. Mine used to be short and my cycle was a couple of days short too. In the meantime I wouldn't stress about it too much. Bding as often as you can without getting too obsessive about it and enjoy it. Once you get pregnant and you have a baby you will think back on this time when you weren't too tired to do it or the kids are sick or when you weren't too mentally exhausted to try different positions. And the excitement of maybe getting pregnant makes every time even more special and close between you and your partner. Great sex now will bring you closer and give you something to remember in the tired months to come. Please enjoy it and only start worrying about it in another couple of months. You know your hormones are fine so it is only a matter of time. I know it sounds like a long time but it goes by so quick.

Hi Spunky,

I came off the pill in Feb after being on for 8 years and had really weird AF cycles- normal 28, 46, 39, 39, 40, 29, 28.. you get the idea!

Anyway- now that I am up to my 9th cycle things are pretty much back to normal (AF arrives every 28-31 days).

FX that things sort themselves out soon for you. I went through a period of being REALLY frustrated at about month 5-7 of trying and it was really stressful. I suggest that you try and think as many positive thoughts as you can, keep your FX, and let it happen- well that's what I'm trying to do lol

Sorry for the huge novel- just wanted to say you're not alone

Yep, you are definitely not alone Spunky. I have been off the pill for eight months now and have been having wacky cycles. I still wouldn't consider my cycles 'normal' but they are definitely getting shorter and shorter so I am guessing I am slowly starting to regulate. What buzylizy said is great advice although it is easier said than done. I started charting my cycles to get a better understanding of what my body is doing and is proving to be very informative.

GL with everything and keep positive

Hey there,

I'm relatively new to this site. I have been on the pill for 8 years, and my partner and I are planning to TTC mid next yr. I'd like as much time off the pill as possible to have regular cycles and reduce any risks. I'm just in a bit of a pickle about what sort contraception to use in the meantime, or do you just wing it and see what happens! Not sure I want any little surprises in the meantime...

Thanks,

Hi Spunky, I was on Monofeme too, pre-kids, and when I came off it I had three normal cycles, and then they went crazy, 35-45days! That lasted till I got pregnant with DD (16months after coming off the pill). Hope your cycle is sorted out soon though!
(eta: DD was conceived on day 23, so a 37day cycle)

DD 4yrs
DS 2yrs

welcome aussieaussie, i too am new to this. but found its such a great place to go for advise. the ladies are great.

im currently TTC with #1. went off pill May this year and my cycles are way out of wack. having read other posts, alot of the other ladies are recommending to come off pill at least 6 months before you want to conceive. but you may be one of the lucky ones whose cycle goes back to normal quickly.

thanks rachelsea, that is comforting. i had 4 normal cycles and then it went crazy. currently on CD59 STILL waiting for AF to arrive. had bloods done but hormones are normal.. dr advised if it hasnt come back by jan, to go back to see her and she will give me something to make it come. also suggested puttin me on clomid, but im a lil nervous bout going on that as there is a SMALL chance of havin triplets....

Thanks spunky :)

I'm at the stage of trying to decide when to go off the pill....do I finish now so my cycles are sorted before TTC before June/July.....do I continue on pill and look at coming off around Feb, slightly less time to become in sync before wanting to try...

Hi, I have just recently come off the pill, about a week ago now. Immediately after doing so I got a period which lasted for about 5 days and was pretty heavy. I had stomach cramps and things too. This was quite unusual as my periods while on the pill were light and irregular. I have been tired and feeling a bit off. Today I went to work but was sick so have come home. I am not pregnant so assume what I am feeling is normal for coming off the pill. Being sick might not be related at all I am not sure. Anyhow had been on the pill about 10 years.... but am getting married in 4 months and we want to start trying once married so have to be careful till then but I wanted to give my body a chance and go off the pill etc now. Any advice/support would be welcome as I had/have no idea what to expect..
