Topic: Trying for number 2 after PET? Posted: 20 June 2011 at 11:26pm |
Hi ladies,
We are a little way off trying for number two, but I am interested in gaining as much knowledge on this subject as possible. Have any of you had PET/HELLP with a pregnancy and gone on to have no problems with your next? Or if you have developed PET/HELLP with your subsequent pregnancies, how was this?
Many thanks

I have known 2 women who had HELLP in the first pregnancy and became pregnant again.
The first, who had severe HELLP, did develop high blood pressure and gestational diabetes but did not develop HELLP again.
The second, who had a less severe (but still serious) case of HELLP, did develop it again, at an earlier stage and bub was born at 32 weeks.
Neither have attempted a 3rd pregnancy.
Stay educated and focused and catching it early will be the key. Hopefully nothing goes wrong and you get a wonderful tv pregnancy, but I would prepare for complications and start testing early.

I had PET with my first child. Mine developed fast and becuase I was 38 weeks they induced me straight away rather than try to medicate etc.
With my second I finished work at around 30 weeks and keep my older child in full time daycare and rested as much as a I could and didn't develop PET. I did have my second at 37 weeks but I think he was just as bored as I was ;-)

Thanks ladies - I appreciate the comments. It's good to hear both sides of the coin. It is a little way off happening just yet, but being the planner that I am, it is good to be as informed as I can be.

I have had a second pg that was completely normal... i was very closely monitered and it was perfect pregnancy with a wonderful VBAC birth resulting in a big healthy baby boy.

I also had PET in my first pregnancy and had my wee girl at 37 weeks. My second pregnancy was monitored very closely with bloods and scans and it ended up being PET free
