Hi
At my routine 18wk scan they discovered I had a very shortened cervix and following another scan and examination by an obsterician they decided to put in a cervical cerclage (stitch). I have not had any previous problems with my cervix or miscarriages or anything. My DD was born fine at 37weeks but the first stage of labour was very quick so i wonder if my cervix has always been weak. Anyway I wondered if anyone else has had this done and how things turned out.
Hi Bron
I haven't had this but my Mum had a similar issue when she was having me. Due to forceps damage when delivering my older brother mum had tearing to her cervix and/or uterus. When she got preg with me (after 2 late MC's) she was given a 5% chance of carrying me to term, they wanted to do the stitch thingy which would have increased the chance to 10%. She decided against it but still managed to carry me to term. Technically she was in labour for the whole pregnancy and was on bedrest the whole time. Sorry if that all sounds a little scary.
Provided you follow the OB's instructions and have regular checks I'm sure everything will be fine!!!! Just make sure if they tell you to rest that you do!!!!
