Hi everyone.

Iv had 2 pregnancies (2nd one make it, was planned and is 17months old with a HUGE personality).

With my first i had an extreme form of Hyperemesis Gravidarum which we didnt know of we just let me lay there all grey skinny till i was no longer with child :(

The 2nd time i had tried a year after the end of the first and i fell pregnant first time but once again i got HG yet still didnt know of it i had what turned out to be a new midwife who told me to suck it in really and i kept trying to smile i didnt want to complain but i told her everything i was going through but didnt get admited to hospital until around in last Tri i was sick and the coughing brought on very early contractions so the doctors made me go to the hospital and called up the midwife to make her get her butt over (she had been saying she was busy seeing her other client at home visits). 2 times i was in the hospital in the last couple months one nurse looked like she was going to cry when she saw i wasnt able to put food in my own mouth properly.

Is there any sort of specialist that i can see and get tests done to get an idea if it would happen the 3rd time around? I seperated from the workaholic/didnt want to even hug me father of my daughter and and with a previous partner whom we always knew we would have a family since we first met (we were 20 at the time haha! boy time flies).

If it were to happen again i will not be having another child and it breaks my heart. We know ill die next time if it happened, im only 42kgs normally was 46 went down to 39 when preg 154cm so you get an idea of how very tiny i am my daughter is half my size hehehe.

I havent proof read this as i have bad vision still bit weak at times. Many thanks, sorry for my rant.

I am no expert on HG, I just had bad morning sickness so can only imagine how horrible HG can be.

If I was in your shoes I would start with finding a midwife, ask around for recommendations in your area. Then tell the MW about your past experiences and see if she has any advice for you.

A nice MW will be happy to help before you get pregnant, she won't be paid for it, but many of them are willing to do what they can. This way you will know you have fantastic support right from the get go.

You know you'll die? Forgive me for being blunt, but that's perhaps a little extreme?

It sounds like you've had a horrible time of it, and caution is a good thing. I'd consult someone who knows about this kind of stuff (an obstetrician?) and who has access to your medical notes, and take it from there.

I had HG with my daughter (who is 11 weeks old now). I was sick for the full 40 weeks, the most extreme time was weeks 5 - 25. I started taking ondansetron which was prescribed to me by my doctor after nothing was helping and after I was admitted to hospital for fluids etc at week 8. With my next pregnancies I plan to take ondansetron also (if I get HG again), it didn't cure the HG but made life easier. I spent weeks in bed not being able to do a thing or keep anything down so I feel for you. Definitely talk to a doctor, I'm not sure if they can find a reason for HG so it would be touch and go if you got it again with another pregnancy. And find a midwife who has had clients with HG before like Chickoin suggests above and they will support you all the way.

Good luck.

Sorry Hopes I have to say also that it's true that people can die from HG (from organ failure) and with Ashley being so small and having HG so extreme it's a real and true concern for her.

I have a monther who just happened to be a naturalpath but wouldnt want to put her work on hold for 9 months all over again (i moved back to hers right away and she stopped working pretty much).

Nats-mum i think i know the stuff you are meaning, i can never remember the names but is it like an anti nausea tablet? Im unable to take them (had mini fits) and something starting with M made my body inside shake very hard for hours so when it wore off and vomited right away it was all blood from the vessels in my stomach popping oh the doctors in the hospital freaked out i was able to force out some little laughs at their expression.

One really good thing is i was always a sick person (from birth unfort) and even though i am still weak, im the healthiest iv ever been i can eat some veggies that were too strong for me to keep down. Its like my immune system and stomach lining had decided that while healing it will do a better job this time.

Im horrible at proof reading sorry if this doesnt make sense :)
