Hopefully if talking about poo's is TMI for you, you haven't come into this thread as it is all about poo!
DS is nearly 1 and we have been struggling with frequency for a few months now. He can go up to six times a day, never a huge amount though. Some are tiny but some are big. The frequency wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't for the fact that it makes him so sore, almost as if the poo is burning his bum. Even when I change him straight away his bum is bright red.
Have had a couple of cases of bad rash that we have got on top of with loads of nappy off time. After the last bout of bad rash I decided to take him to the GP to see if there was some super-duper cream we could use and what she suggested.
She basically told us to reduce the fibre in his diet. We've done this for a week now and he is basically the same, if not slightly worse. Still doing 4-5 poos a day, still small. On the occasion that he does a big poo (2-3times a week) he is actually screaming when it comes out and is really struggling to push it out

So I am now thinking along the lines of constipation. I have considered constipation before but dismissed it as his poo's were never hard, always soft just lots of them. They still aren't hard and dry but clearly hurting him.
I have reduced acidic foods in his diet to see if that stops the poo burning his bum. What do you guys think? I don't really want to take him back to the GP as I don't have a whole lot of confidence in her and she said if it doesn't improve with low fibre to take him to a paediatric dietician privately.
Hope that someone can help us
