Hi I'm just after some advice and info on ur experience with ttc after misoprostol mc.

I had a missed mc discoverd at 8 wks which was about 2wks ago (baby died at about 5.5wks)
2 days After the scan I miscarried naturally, the bleeding tapered off over 1wk then had more cramping and a couple of big clots then the next day bleeding pretty much stopped.

I had an internal scan yesterday and I have a small piece of retained tissue! Today I opted for misoprostol which is kicking in now!

So my question is what is ur experience with ttc after misoprostol? Is it possible to O before next af? Is it safe to get utd after misoprostol and before af? I'm probably bein very impatient but I just want to move on ASAP

Sorry to hear about your experience Bubno1. I took that medicine to induce my mc at about 10/11 weeks as bub didn't make it past about 7. My doc said to wait one cycle but she said there really wasn't much reason for doing so.

I don't think it mattered for me anyway because we're onto cycle #4 since then with no luck. I had AF about 3 weeks after taking the med but I don't think I OV as I still had HCG in my system about 5 days before AF came... either it was one short LP or just an anovulatory cycle.

Since taking it, my periods have been super light (almost non-existent) but I know I'm OV because of temp rises and +OPKs every month. I also had a oral thrush infection (yuck, I know!) about a month after taking it - most likely due to the hormone imbalance. I'm not sure if my "issues" have been due to the meds or the mc. Either way, it's very frustrating! I'm off to the doc for some blood tests next week to see if they're still out of whack.

Did your doc give you any advice. I think the med is out of your system very quickly. At the end of the day, you need to go with what's best for you. I personally wanted to wait, but I was further along and needed the med for the mc. I also lost a lot of weight from morning sickness and stress and knew my body wasn't up for it again soon. I also just felt like my lady bits needed some time to recover :-)

Good luck to you! Let me know how you get on. I hope you don't get any of the side effects the med can bring on - I didn't!

Bunbo - I am sorry you are going through this. It is the worst thing to have to go through. I have had misoprostal twice for two mm/c. Both times, I waited until AF before TTC again. You don't have to and I know I did ov both times two weeks or so after starting misoprostal. I just decided to wait because I needed to emotionally, and I wanted to make sure everything was back to normal. Both times, I was about a week late with AF after treatment, but then bounced back to normal cycles after that. It took us 5 months after each treatment to conceive again, but the second time, we chose to wait and have acupuncture and herbal treatment. All the best. I hope that was of some help.

to be honest I'm a bit worried I've made the wrong decision having the misoprostal! I'm getting cramps but only as intense as it is during af! Not much blood at all tiny bit when I wipe! I would hav thought it'd be almost over by now?

Aw. I just don't want you to feel alone in all this like I did initially. Are you taking just one dose or repeat doses? I took a few pills every 2 hours for an entire day. Maybe you're on a lower dose. Can you ring the doc? Did they say what to expect? Try not to stress too much. I'm sure you've done the right thing. The only other real option was a d&c and there are more risks with that. Hang in there! Keep me posted on how you're doing. X

My tablets were given vaginally they apparently call in 3 days (but monday for me) then it's more pills if this hasn't worked! I don't have high hopes for it working, I really wanted it all over and done with and I think I'm gona have it drawn out and end up with d&c anyway :(

Oh, I hope it isn't drawn out for you! I know how it feels to just want it over and to move on to the next cycle of trying.

Maybe there's only a little bit of bleeding because you're lining hasn't properly built up yet and maybe the retained tissue has come out already :-) 3 weeks after my mc, my first AF was so light I didn't even think it was one at first. Try to stay positive, it's still early days! If there was only a tiny bit of tissue left over, you probably wouldn't even notice it at this stage.

Hi Bubno1, sorry for your loss. I just wanted to let you know I took misoprostol for my missed miscarriage. Because of the terrible lack of staff at my local hospital instead of getting the D&C I should have (as the misoprostol caused a lot of bleeding for me but no product actually passed) I ended up passing the product 4 days later. They did a scan 2 weeks later as I was still bleeding, there was a small piece of product left. I was offered misoprostol again - which I refused and asked for a D&C, they advised against it and instead put me on 2 types of antibiotics to avoid infection and told me to wait until AF came.

2 weeks after that AF came - was extremely heavy and longer than normal, so I assume the last of it passed then, and then my bleeding stopped and my cycle went back to normal

Was just letting you know as you could ask for that option, the antibiotics and letting your cycle kick in. You don't have to take more misoprostol if you don't want to

The reason they advised against a D&C for me when there was the small piece of product left is they thought they'd do more damage than good trying to remove the product. i.e. scrap to much of the lining or puncture the uterus.

Sounds like good advice, Nell. I would also ask for another scan on Monday. They probably will anyway. With my second m/c, I barely bled at all and delivered a large kind of clot, and that was it. Bleeding was over in a couple of days. Clearly, my lining was not very thick and that has turned out to be the problem for me anyway. I hope you get some answers on Monday.

My worry with having ab's and waiting is the waiting part! If miso isn't working then I can't see just waiting working. I've had no more cramps or bleeding since Wednesday! It sux not being able to know what the best move is! I know dr's can only give you the best advice just sux when ur not the typical result

Oh, Bubno1, I'm so sorry you're going through this. The whole TTC things is full of waiting... waiting for OV, waiting to test, waiting for answers, waiting for HCG to leave your system after a mc when you just want to move on, etc. It's never easy but it does teach us the patience we will need when our wee little bub comes into our lives. I hope you can distract yourself until you get some answers. x
