Topic: Prefolds and Covers Posted: 20 October 2008 at 7:26pm |
This might seem like a stupid question but do you have to buy the same brand covers and prefolds?
For example, I want to try out some bambino mio and some ecobots covers but am thinking about just purchasing ecobots inserts?
Will this work as long as they are both in the small size?
Also, has anyone purchased bambino mio products before and where is the best place to buy them online?
Also, for 12 prefolds - how many covers do you suggest?

i dont think it matters. prefold are prefolds and covers are covers. I am going to use prefolds for my new one (used them on Tom when he was a newborn) and I had 3 covers I used.

Wow NZpiper how did you manage with just three covers! I used/use 6 covers and they are mix of different brand though not the ones you are looking at.

Did you snappi them or just fold them into the covers?

Ok, so it looks like somewhere between 3-6 covers is recommended for 12 prefolds.
Might get a couple of different brands to try out.

I had 4 covers, but it wasn't enough - 6 sounds good.
you probably want more than 12 prefolds if you want to use them full time.
I folded rather than snappi, but snappi would probably be better for keeping poo off the cover.
I agree any prefold with any cover would be fine.

I have got about 10 pocket nappies too and I am hoping that some of them will fit my newborn so I can use them hand and hand with prefolds.

I tried snappiing but falied miserably. folding in 3 was so much easier. I had 3 fleece snazzipants covers and did have a couple of bummis covers but hated them as they felt so "plastic" so hardly ever used them. I washed every day though but I guess I was just lucky that we didnt get many leaks, explosions.

I have cloth nappies of all sorts, brought off trademe. Really like the prefolds for my newborn. Saying that, haven't tried other types yet! Figure she's still a bit small for them... I am using 15-20 prefolds, half a dozen covers. Washing most days. I have a selection of prefolds and a selection of covers, and they all intermingle quite happily!
