As long as you are sensible when lifting heavier things (though some 15mos don't weigh that much), ie: bending your needs and turning slowly, you should be fine.

Are you experiencing any stiffness or pain now? That is usually the best indicator as to whether you've overdone it or not.

i moved a couple of chairs and dragged a few tables in my classroom and have been paying for it ever since. My back is constantly sore. Although a baby is pretty compact, so even if heavy I guess they are easy to hold. The things I was moving were lught but awkward shapped, so maybe that was my problem.

Because your ligaments and joints are all softer so they can move to accomodate your growing baby, you will be a bit more vulnerable to strains and sprains. It's easy to forget that tere is a lot going on inside - not just with the baby but with you as well! Lift carefully and just take any challenging physical task slowly. (I was lifting 18 kg boxes on my own with no problem at 8 months, just 1 at a time)

i wouldnt worry. parents with older kids do it every day. i looked after my neice and taught gymnastics (lifting 5-8 year old kids) until 5 months pg and my doctor said that i could keep lifting anything that i lifted before being pg as long as im careful. i think more than anything you are just prone to injuries that wouldnt normally do you any harm if your joints and ligaments werent relaxed.

I've still occasionally lifted my six and a half year old right from 4 weeks pregnant .
The other day I helped lift a man in a wheel chair over the door frame thing at work , my GOD that was heavy (also didnt help that his charming old wife had left the brakes on )

You are more likely to hurt your back/pelvis than hurt the baby. Don't worry about 15mo's, if he was your son you'd be lifting him everyday and that would really only be a concern if you had a high needs pregnancy. I have a big 2yo who I carry short distances and that's fine, so long as I stand right etc.

I carry my almost 3yo every single day, including lifting her out of her carseat if she's fallen asleep and is therefore a 'dead weight'.

As the others have said you're not going to harm your baby doing that but you may do yourself harm because of the relaxin hormones which soften your ligaments and of course back injuries.

It's good to be sensible about lifting things, and as your bump grows it will become more awkward to carry large objects, but it's not going to harm your baby.

meant to say , I don't know WHY I sometimes carry my nearly seven year old ..seeing as she can walk fine and is just being lazy when she decides not to walk ....tho...she is still my baby

Ok I only *just* noticed that I said 'needs' rather than KNEES in my first reply Apologies.

I lift my DD pretty much every day and she is just over 13kg, but again it's just a matter of being careful.
