Nothing consistently worked for me either. I had about a 2 week period (10-12 weeks pg) where I couldn't even keep down water and was throwing up about 5 times a day, but the sickness didn't go away through the whole pregnancy (although it got better - I only threw up about once a week in the last trimester).

I found smoothies and custard went down ok and were what got me eating again after that horrible fortnight. After that I just had to eat constantly, I kept gingernuts by the bed and had to nibble on one before I got up for the day, I couldn't even sit up without needing to run to the loo to barf, had to nibble on a biscuit lying down first! I hated the days when I woke up really needing to pee

Sea bands didn't work at all, but really cold ginger beer seemed to help in the afternoons for a while.

Lemonade iceblocks were the only thing I could stomach with all three pregnancies, it was worst with the gremlins but I threw up every day from 5 weeks till delivery with both the gremlins and lil miss and from 8-16 weeks with Maya.

I agree with the drinking water thing, I wouldn't have breakfast till I'd thrown up each day coz water was easier to bring up than toast .

With the gremlins I also drank gallons of Ribena and Mizone coz I couldn't stomach plain water.

I tried Morningmed and all it did was make me throw up, and sea bands didn't make a difference.

I did have IV fluids and antiemetics with all of them but I never found that the antiemetics made much difference. A cocktail of Maxalon, Zofran and Cyclazine stopped the vomitting but didn't do anything for the all day nausea which was the most horrible part.

The best part was in delivery - the amazing sensation of feeling well for the first time in months! And awful as it was, once bub is out you really do forget it pretty quickly.

I'm just bumping this....

Is what you eat going to affect bubs in any way...as in, at the moment the only thing I can stomach is fresh bread (with or without Vegemite), hot chips with LOTS of chicken salt and mince pies (but not with cheese ). Oh, and cold mochas (NOT hot!!!) and Milos. Even I can see there's little to no nutritional value in any of that food - it's not going to be an issue is it?? I'm not throwing up, just nauseous 24/7 and eating what I can. Savoury and salty foods are my thing at the moment - I made a potato salad a few days ago and put so much mustard in DF nearly caught fire whereas I thought it was mild (the complete opposite to what I'm normally like).

I don't think it makes any difference, I never threw up but had days of feeling a bit off and in the first trimester all I wanted to eat was pizza, wedges, chips, pies - basically any takeaways and carbs so not exactly nutrition packed! Just eat what you can and hopefully by the 2nd tri you'll feel better and be able to eat a bit more healthy

My theory (and I'm by no means a medical expert) is that something is better than nothing - as long as it isn't one of the foods that you're not allowed. Just try to keep up fluids too, especially on these hot days.

Definitely true, Bec! And Kate, baby takes all the nutrition it needs first, so you have to be really badly malnourished before it starts affecting the baby (although it's really bad for you). If you don't get enough calcium, for example, you actually start losing bone density because the baby takes it out of your bones - I was worried I wasn't getting enough calcium and thought it might affect the baby's growth, but nope, baby's bones still grow strong even if you end up with osteoporosis! They really do act like a parasite...

Nice Will my mw check those things at my appointments with her? I'm glad it shouldn't affect bubs though - with the amount of salty things I've had, I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be a fish LOL I am drinking a lot of water and Milo though.

Hi, I'm not sure if this will help you, but in my first trimester I kept a bag of oddfellow lollies in my handbag and sucked on one of those whenever I was feeling nauseaus. It was instant relief and helped me get through the days at work! (mind you I never vomited at all, just horrible nausea all day everyday)

I also had a supply of ginger tea and had a drink of that every morning which made me feel better too, but as you say you've tried ginger that probably won't help.

Hi, I second the mints and basically eating all day, salt and vingar chips were great. And If you are taking pregnancy vitamins (blackmores are my favorite) because the baby is only tiny so only needs tiny amounts of vitamins and minerals so should get that from your supplement. I lost 9 kg in the first trimester due to ms and my son is very healthy. Good luck in your pregnancy

I founf that the multi vit was making me feel worse. My liver was getting totally overloaded.

And yeah- potato, chips, pies, pizza, pop tarts, butter....   all that stuff, go for it. Whatever you can keep down. things will change in a few weeks anyways, and baby wont be affected at all.

Some other stuff that's worked for me some days and might be worth a try are salt and vinegar chips, plain crackers and sultana bran. Sultana bran has the B1 in it that they prescribe in hospital to help cope with morning sickness...

Just eat whatever you can chick, follow your cravings and hopefully you'll be over this soon.

I am feeling your pain,literally!I am constantly queasy,day and night,but as someone said I think its a little reassuring in a way!
One of my friends mentioned that her sis is going to an accupunturist for m/s and getting great results,so I am going to make an appointment,never had it done before,I'm a chicken when it comes to needles!But anything to get rid of this constant sickness.Will let you know how it goes!
I am finding sparkling water works for a while and iceblocks!

Minik8e - congrats on the twinnies!

don't worry too much about the nutritional value of the food you can manage - just eat what your body wants and take a multi vit. I ate lots of porridge, mashed potato and crackers... (and jet plane lollies).

I used to look at pregnant woman eating crap before I was preg myself, and think "how could they", but now I know it can be impossible to get anything else down. Just the idea of eating veges made me spew....
