Topic: Recommendation? Posted: 20 July 2008 at 8:23pm |
I'm having some trouble with Bella's fuzzi's at the moment, with leaking after 1-2 hours (she's not a particularly heavy wetter). She is still in the mediums - she is 9.3kg but very long in the body. I am starting to wonder whether its because the nappies sit well below her navel now and are not giving her a secure fit. I have tried mixing up insert combos with no difference.
My question is, if it looks like she needs to go up to the next size, does anyone have a good recommendation for a nappy that fits quite high in the waist. Hope thats not a silly question, but as said, she is very long in the body (with short stubby legs !) and the fuzzis used to fit really nicely and I'm hoping that just going up to the large would be the answer, but if anyone has any other ideas, I'd love to hear them.
TIA

I had the same problem with Leo's medium Fuzzis at around 11mths but his insert was soaked so I added a booster and we were back to 3-4hrs between changes. He seemed to go from a light wetter to a medium wetter overnight! He was also short & stocky with a long waist and didn't move out of his mediums until around 16mths. The larges were quite a bit larger - he's now over 13kg (23mths) and still only on the second smallest poppers. Honeychild nappies might be worth a look for you - they start smaller and have a higher rise than a Fuzzi. Plus their insert is more absorbent (although does take longer to dry as a result).

Where is the nappy leaking? Is it gaping at the back and leaking there? Do they need stripping?
I wouldn't recommend going to the large Fuzzi just yet as they start at 10kg (from memory). Do they still sell their petites? That might be a better option if you wanted to stay with Fuzzis. The petites used to be the width of a medium and the height of a large (designed for slim toddlers).
HC larges have a fairly high rise (approx 25cms from crotch to top) and start at 9kg
I've got some great deals on at the moment too

Our inserts hold approx 400mls and another 100mls with a booster
Caitlin still wears her medium HCs to bed at night (13 hours) with just 2 inserts. When we used FB inserts we were using 3 + a booster = HUGE bubble butt
She's 11.5kg and the larges still literally fall off her!

They are leaking at the back, although sometimes when she sleeps on her tummy, they leak up the front around the middle. I have tried stripping them recently, thinking that was the problem.

Really do they? I have a couple of the HC inserts and I find they don't last as long as most of the others I have, though they do seem to have a bigger pile on the microfibre.
Anyways, you can find petite fuzzis on trademe, I was having a nosey over the weekend and spotted some on there at the moment. Otherwise maybe get someone to make some custom ones to fit bella?

Sounds like the rise might be the problem then, this can happen when there is gaping at the bum/belly.
As for the amounts for the inserts - 400mls can happen over 3-4 hours or with your wee fella (the super pee'r) I wouldn't be surprised if 1 insert wouldn't be enough. He must have very efficient kidneys )

So whats the answer? I'm getting frustrated at the amount of sposies we are using at the moment because we can't rely on our fuzzis anymore....

Are the inserts soaked? Have you checked whether there is buildup on the fleece?
It could be not enough absorbancy or the build up could be causing the wees to just run off the fleece.

I agree with Nikki, check for build up on the fleece.
Sam is around 9-9.5kgs and can still wear her smalls without leaking out the back or front even though the rise is well under the navel (think itty bitty low ), we did however go through a slight change in the amount of wees a couple of months ago and have had to start putting 2 inserts + a booster in. This will keep her going for 3-4 hours with no problems.
Otherwise perhaps the try the baby harmony pockets. They are quite high in the rise - we have one we use for night time in a medium and it can hold heaps of stuffing

I poured some liquid over a couple of inserts this morning and they were fine...absorbed it straight away. Perhaps she is just weeing more...
I think I may just need to try a few different types and see which ones I like the best.
Oh and I have some medium baby harmony but they got way too small for Bella, I was on like the last snap . She must have super duper thunder thighs!!
