Hi Ladies,

Couldn't find a thread on this so thought I would start one.

What brand/type of highchair would you recommend to new parents? I'm looking at buying one now while we have the money and was wondering what pros and cons to look out for when shopping. Also, which ones are the easiest to keep clean.

There are so many lovely ones with heaps of padding and extras but they just look like giant food traps to me. I lived with my sister for all three of her babies and it still astounds me just how far bubs can throw food. I don't want to have to pull apart the entire thing everytime she has a meal.

I don't mind spending the money to get a decent chair but some of them look completely useless considering what they're designed for.

I quite like that one kebakat. Looks easy to clean too. I was expecting it to be expensive but I think you may have solved my problem.

Yeah it's really well priced. I've been tempted to buy one now because Daniel still uses a highchair but I'll make myself wait for #2.

Just ordered it and supposed to be here in three days so i'll put a post up about it when it gets here. It was free freight and a free safety strap so $108 all up with the padded insert. The one I was look at in the shops was about $220.00 so this is heaps better.

Wow that looks cool, I got one from baby factory last time with no padding & even that was a pain to clean food from. Would love to get one of these!

Only downfall would be that it doesnt' look like it folds up.

Nah, it doesn't fold up but the legs pull out so all good. I bought one of their bouncy rocker things too. They sent a discount coupon via email so I got the rocker for $55.00. Not bad for one days shopping sitting in my kitchen lol.

Thats the one I am planning on getting too Dana. Let me know if the tray slides forward as I have heard that the tray doesnt slide forward just comes off??? Apparently the new models slide now so I am curious about that.

Ahh so it would still be quite portable!

I wish I could go shopping, am very tempted to sell all my old stuff & get new stuff, don't think DH would like that though.

I have a padded one from baby city and I never worried too much about the cleaning part of it...every so ofter we would take the padding out chuck it in the washing machine...wipe the seat, leave it outside to dry and put it all back together!!

Did it arrive yet Dana? I'm thinking about getting one too, just wondering how wide it is down the bottom, it looks like the legs stick out a way and we don't have a lot of room in our dining room. Does the tray slide forward for getting baby in and out? Sorry for all the questions..

Hey Genie,

Yep, it arrived really quickly.

The tray doesn't slide forward but there's heaps of room for baby to be slipped in and out. There is a safety strap that's hooked through the underside and up through some slots in the seat. It's only one strap but looks ok.

The legs do have a large foot print. It breaks down but it's not that easy to do so once it's up, it's up. Very easy to clean though I have to say.

I got the padded insert which is only a rectangle of foam with a cover that you wrap around the inside of the seat to keep baby up. No padding on the seat it's self.

Overall i'd say a 6-7 out of 10. But the rocker/bouncinette is very cool and I want one in my size!!
