Are you talking about what i think you're talking about???

I think that must be a myth perpetuated by the male gender . ..

ETA - that option can wait till 40 weeks methinks!

a bishops score is what they use to determine how successful a induction may be. it takes into consideration how dilated, position and condition of your cervix, etc.

Nothing IMO will make a baby come that is not ready...even chemical induction.

I have had three, at 42 w 2 days, 42 3 and 42 2 (i think thats right, starting to get hazy on details...)

i tried a few different things. i would suggest you just relax ... once you have the baby - even tho it is a baby you can hold and cuddle and look at - you will in some way miss being pregnant and miss having your baby with you in such a close and personal way and it is something that you will not be able to recreate cause each time it will be different and if it is your first you will never get those feelings back again.

all the best!!!

I have to disagree with you about the comment that a baby wont come if not ready, even with chemical induction. I do on the natural side.

But I had an induction at 38 weeks with no previous sign of the baby making an appearance. Due to medical reasons I wasn't allowed to carry longer. The labour was very quick too.

Morning

Mummytobesep08 it's not long to go now, I know it seems like an eternity but bubs will come out.. Has MW suggested an induction date at all? You'll be 41wks 2 days by tues so give MW abit of a nudge to induce before 42 also @ your appointment ask her to try and do a S&S if you feel comfy with having one of them done.

it's not the most pleasant thing to have done but it's not excrutiating either & they tend to work within 48 hours but not always. I think you need to get some eviction notice papers written up and give your little miss a stern talking to, LOL...

Best of luck hun...

If I had to guess I'd say your probably in latent labour. I had very good BH's with DD1 & a couple of times I thought it was the real thing. I went in for CTG monitoring 4 days after my EDD & babies heartrate was fine but no sign of contractions at all but when MW went to do a S&S she found I was 5cm dialated and couldnt understand why I hadnt gone into labour on my own. I had the sweep done and about half hour after it was done I started to contract and half an hour after that my waters popped & 1 hour 25 mins after my waters broke I was holding my baby. LOL...Hopefully  last nights 3 hours has started you off so things would be quite favourable for you @ your nxt MW visit or maybe you'll be seeing your MW before Tuesday.... Fingers crossed....

Re the kick count charts, Me personally I didnt really keep count but baby had gotten themselves into a routine that I got used to and as long as I felt them around their usual wake up and play times I was quite happy with that...

I will be keeping an eye on this thread tomorrow hun. Im excited for you...And it's gonna be anytime now....

No kick charts as he was very active. I had a scan at 41 weeks to check the placenta and level of fluid.

Your MW won't let it get to that
Your wee girl is obviously nice and warm in there
Looking forward to hearing when she's arrived!

Nah I just kept a mental note of how he was moving and stuff, but my boy was active and kicking right up until they took him out via c section.

ETA-Dont get nervous hun, you will be ok and so will bubs, like MamaPickle said they wont lwt it get to that. I was 2 weeks over and my placenta was really good.

The induction was pretty easy. I went in at 7.30am, feeling like it was all a bit surreal, and got hooked up to CTG monitor for about an hour. Then the MW (hospital MW not mine) came and did an internal to get a baseline of where things were at. Then she inserted gel, and I went back on monitoring for an hour. After that, I could get up and walk around - walk around the hospital, go over the road for coffee etc. Every four hours, I went back on the CTG for about 30 min just to make sure it was all OK. At about 4.30 that afternoon, they did another internal and more CTG (no change), so did more gel.....

3 days later, I'd dilated 2 cm - MW did an internal, broke my waters and did a stretch and sweep. definitely not comfortable but I had gas and it helped. My contractions didn't start straight away, so she put me on a syntocinin drip which started the contractions and they came every 3 minutes . Then the lovely lovely anaesthetist came abut 30 minutes later and put the epidural in.... Contractions started at 9am, fully dilated by 6pm, started pushing - no luck - ventouse delivery with episiotomy at 8.47pm.

I had prostaglandin gel (this is what they use at North Shore adn Waitak) but Auckland Hospital uses a pessary that I think they leave in the whole time, and at Auckland, they won't generally let you go more than 2 days of induction.

Good luck - like Sheena said, hopefully it won't come to this. Have they given you a date for induction (I noted you're 41 wks and 4 days) - they don't usually let you go over 2 weeks (though I noted from Bizzy's post she was over 42 wks with all babies, so it might come down to the intdividual OB/MW but the research says it should be before 42 weeks). Enjoy your last few days of being just the 2 of you - I know it's much easier said than done! Eat chocolate, put your feet up, go to a cafe .....
