For the past couple of days I have felt off colour. I am really really tired. Yesterday I fell asleep 3 times! And sleeping during the day is something that I just don't do, unless I have migraine.
My sleep has been broken for quite some time, but that is something that I can generally handle without being tired during the day.
I have been burping a bit today, and have a little bit of heartburn. Taking gaviscon does help with my heartburn though.
I can't remember having this extreme tiredness in pregnancy before, but then again my last was a loooong time ago; 8yrs!

So is this normal for around 20 weeks? I am guessing you'll all come in and say yes it is lol. Is feeling off colour normal too? I got away with mild nausea in early pregnancy and no tiredness.....so is it coming to kick me in the butt now?

Nerertiti, I am only 17 weeks but I also feel like Im going backwards.
I have bad headaches most days, back pain and have gone back to vomiting every couple of days.
My tiredness is out of control. I have started to have a 2 hour nap in the afternoon and then Im ready for bed again at 8pm!
Hopefully things will improve soon as I thought the second trimester was the one where you felt good!

jack_&_charli - with my first two being so close together I remember the running around part, but thats about it lol. I wanted to call my mw, but didn't want to bother her, oh dear. I have appt with her in 2 weeks I think....but will call if I don't improve. Guessing she'll say its normal....

CarrieMumToBe - I don't like to sleep during the day because for some reason during this pregnancy I wake with a start/panic and it immediately takes away the relaxation from the sleep :(

I still felt really tired during my entire pregnancy last time.  I'd get home from work at 5pm and sleep until 6:30pm every weekday and on the weekends I'd sleep the afternoons away.

I did find the feel good hormones helped me during the 2nd tri but nothing abolished the tiredness - then again you are growing a baby and that takes a lot of energy.

Just try and rest as much as possible and if your body is telling you to sleep then that's the best thing you can do.

I just feel really lazy when all I want to do is lie on my bed most of the day.
Perhaps I should have a talk to my family as I'm feeling a bit guilty about not keeping up with the housework :(

bubs could be going through a growth spurt and that REALLY wears you out.

Have you had your iron levels checked recently?
That can contribute to feeling extremely tired, headachey and off colour.
Hope you're feeling better soon chick!

I was going to suggest Iron levels too hun. Last appointment with my mw I told her how tired I was and she told me to either up my iron intake in food or go back on elevit and see if it helped.

I started eating more meat and green vegies etc and my fatigue did improve so it could very well be that.

Hope you start to feel better soon hun.

I eat plenty of red meat and love salads and veges so I will be a little surprised.
I had my levels checked pre pregnancy and I had to not eat certain foods for 3 days....is this the same for a test during pregnancy?

I am low in calcium and of all things vitamin D, which I was surprised about, so I guess low iron shouldn't shock me either lol.

Maybe more brocolli? Salad veges probably dont cut it. What sort of green veges did you increase mel? Spinach, brocolli etc?

Yes I was going to say iron too - if I was you I'd have blood tests as soon as possible actually (you can just pick up the script thing from your mw). I ate lots of red meat, salads, veges etc, and still had incredibly low iron... it's really common in pregnancy - cos the baby 'steals' all your good iron! When I had my iron test I didn't have to worry about what I ate before.

Oh and if it is iron - iron tablets will make SUCH a difference (get ones with Vitamin C in them too, cos it helps with iron absorption) . I just recently found out I had low iron since having my bubba, and honestly I've got a new lease of life since sorting it out! I've actually had the energy to get out in the garden, it's amazing!

All the best, hope you get some more energy soon

I was similar at 20 weeks, babies must growth spurt about then because it felt like the pg was a whole lot more work that week. Give it a week and I think you'll start to feel better.

Ooh poor you, I can definitely sympathise! I felt shocking around 20 weeks as well, was only JUST getting past MS (and still having icky days) and feeling super tired as well as waking up hungry in the night. I think bubs was going through a bit of a growth spurt

Easy enough to get your iron checked though, just to rule it out, and if all is well then console yourself with the thought that it *should* ease up a bit soon

Re the tiredness, just go with it and nap if you are tired. Growing a baby is hard work you know
