Now I know I am pregnant and there is a baby growing in there and I dont expect it to be discomfort free experience but......

I am getting a muscle type ache on the left hand side of my abdomin. If I put my hand where the pain is the heel is at my side and my middle finger is pointing directly to my belly button. I am also getting mild AF like cramps on and off through the day (which i guess is my uterus stretching?). Oh and a tingling sensation all over the skin on my tummy, kind of like a crawling sensation (I thought this might be my skin stretching?) but more so above where the side pain is.

Any ideas? Cos the side pain has got me stumped!

Thanks

Erm the pain sounds a lot like ligaments stretching to me, there are some that connect to the bottom of the uterus, some that connect around the middle of the uterus and then some that connect to the top of the uterus (if I remember correctly). Dull aches and shooting pains are normally ligaments stretching.
The crawling and tingling sensation is a bit odd though and I have something in the back of my mind about it being related to a liver problem you can get (but I might have that completely wrong so please don't panic). It could just be the skin stretching, my belly gets itchy from stretching.

It wouldn't hurt to phone your midwife, they can normally tell a lot just by asking a few questions over the phone and put your mind at ease.

I wont freak out... I do have an appointment with my mw next week so if it gets worse i will call her.

Really ligaments all the way around there??? Huh, my female body will never cease to amaze me. I did think it might be something stretching, it is a very muscley ache though.

OMG Marisa, when did you get to 33 weeks! and OMG Spencer is neary 18 months...

Melnel, it could be the ligaments stretching giving you discomfort. I had all sorts of odd pains when i was pregnant.

I would definately advise to call your midwife, as cuppatea said, she should be able to tell you over the phone if it is normal or not.   Don't feel stink calling either as that is their job and you need to know everything is ok so you don't have to worry about it.

Good luck for the rest of your pregnancy.

That's exactly what I get too (without the tingy skin though) but in my right side, it can be soooooo painful! And the AF cramps are not a lot of fun either

I got a very painful cramp in my left side this morning, much like a massive leg cramp but in my side, very owsies Gone away now though, thankfully!
I'm guessing its the ligaments stretching, but man it was sore!

I had my first braxton hicks yesterday apparently. I was visting the blind foundation for a tour of their offices and was standing for about an hour and the next thing my tummy kinda cramped up and went hard for about 15 seconds and then went away.. Totally freaked me out.

A lady at work who recently had her second bubs and is a nurse (and my go to person when I am worried about things) said it sounded like braxton hicks.

Hope that doesnt happen again anytime soon!
