Aimstar1, I know it's hard, but try not to stress about the levels too much. I was like that at each spike and whenever I got upset or stressed, the levels only got worse. To me stress was my worst enemy. As soon as I took a relaxed attitude towards the whole thing, things improved massively.
And another thing that helped me a lot is to really spread out your meals. Don't forget the snacking in between meals (healthy ones that is of course). Whenever I forgot a snack, my before level at the next meal was low, but the 2 hr after level was still high.
And I don't know if anyone told you that apparently sometimes it can make a positive difference when you have some protein with every meal (i.e. egg in your salad sandwich, porridge with milk, etc.) and even sometimes apples and kiwis have a positive effect on blood sugar levels.
But still I think stress is a major factor - so just try to take it easy.
Thinking of you.

I will be sent to a Manukau's Diabetics clinic too, still waiting for the mail from hospital, because I can not get their phone to my home, when I am working daylight . I already ate according to the menu hospital recommended, ( got from my sister). this two days before breakfast, the result is 4.6, after dinner is 7.7, still too high right, but two days ago the results are 4 and 6.2, I don't know why the results changed without the change of my menu

no 7.7 is ok for someone with GD - mine after meals were around the 8 mark and I was around 5 in morning before meals. what they told me was that they get you to do one hour after then two hour after (are they with you?) to make sure the levels are coming down (even slightly)

Hi Again

Another update, diabetes MW called yesterday to get my results from last few days ovet the phone and we discussed what I had been eating etc. and it became clear that diet & excersice alone was not going to help, as they had already suspected. So MW spoke to physician and I am now taking Metformin, 1 tablet at night and 1 in the morning, it made a difference to my reading last night, was alot less than what it has been (5.2 instead of 9.7) and I am yet to do the one after breakfast but one this morning (before getting up) was better too, so that makes me feel really good. Plus I have not put any weight on in about a week or more, in fact have lost a bit, but bump is getting bigger. Hopefully looking on the brightside I will not have too much to lose after bub is born and my body will recover quicker from being so healthy and fit.

Joyceeee - make sure you take your advice from your MW and doctors not from the internet as you need to be following their instructions so that they know what you are doing. I think it sounds like everyone gets different advice and courses of action but it is always best to follow the professionals advice that you have been given.

Thanks, Aimstar1,
I have an appoinment with specilist mw next week, Till now I just according to my sister's previous menu to arrange my daily diet. I measure myself twice a day, one before breakfast, always around4.7, and one two hours after dinner about 6.8, there's two day 7.7. But I found these two days I always feel dizzy, especially when I inclined. I don't know is that a side effect of my diet.

Joyceee - I dont know about the dizziness mention this to your MW when you see her. I have been advised that levels should be under 5 in the morning and under 6 after each meal. Now that I am on the meds as well as eating well this has been easy. I have been advised to do tests first thing in morning and then once 2 hours after breakfast, lunch & dinner.

Just make sure that you always have breakfast lunch and dinner and a snack in between each. If you dont eat often enough you will get high levels and not eating often enough could be causing the dizziness???

I have been told to count 2 hours from start of meal, and then have my snack after I have done the test (2 hours or more after main meal) I normally have a piece of fruit or a lite yoghurt and maybe some raw almonds or a couple of wholegrain crackers and a piece of cheese. I have been told I can space out 2 snacks if I feel like I get hungry which I do after lunch and before dinner.

fasting capillary blood glucose levels <5.5 mmol/L
1 hour postprandial capillary blood glucose levels <8.0 mmol/L
2 hour postprandial blood glucose levels <6.7 mmol/L

I have visited the specialists, give me some knowledge about gestational diabetes. Quite good to know those things, and the team told me, I have to control my blood sugar between 3.5-6.5.

Just hope our thread not fall down so quickly, How about you mates? I have recorded my food menu for a week, see which kind of combination control better. Hope I don't need med, but if I need I think I will have to care about blood sugar too low again.

My mum was borderline GD, so she just had to watxh her diet.
I failed the first test(polycose) and then had to do the 3 hour fasting on, but thankfully I passed that one!
