What are my choices?
I have been taking elevit and they are just about all gone, i fiund it is very expensive and also makes me feel sick, are there any other alternatives that are not as expensive? Also that hopefully will not make me sick,
Thanks ;-)

you only really need to take 800mg folic acid IMO... I do take b6 and vitex as well to balance hormones and increase prog...

If you have a good diet, then you should only need to take elevit every second day, then increase it to every day the week before you period is due (as this will cover implantation).
Supplements prepare your body but most vitamins you pee out so unless you are pregnant they wont be doing much.
I have made a 3 month box of elevit stretch 6 months - but now I think I am pregnant I will need to stock up.
Also remember you should only take suppliments in the first trimester, and infrequently after that, because after the spine is formed you can overdose your kid on folic acid.

Elevit is just the same as blackmores pregnancy multi with extra folic acid so if you want a cheaper option do that. But if your diet is good you don't need anything except folic acid.

Hey I'm on the Womens Multi vits (although not sure how recommended they are for ttc). red label ones, I think, or Healtheries. You can get them in the supermarket, they're pretty cheap but higher Vit levels than one of the other commen womens multi's. About 10 bucks for a month
Also I get the 0.8 folate from the chemist - about 13 bucks for 3 months supply.
And iron supps, but I have freakydeaky ferritin levels. And Vit C now too.
And Chinese herbs - infertility support1.
Jeez I rattle

yeah, I remember trying to get the .8 folate at one point, I'd had it before so knew what I wanted. the chemist was trying to get me to buy the preggy/higher priced and lower folated stuff.
Luckily I had my last folate bottle in my bag, so could show them, that particular chemist wasn't aware of them, and they were stocked away from the rest of the preggy/ttc supps so weren't that obvious

You cant take a normal Womans Multi Vit because it has too higher levels of Vitamin A which can cause birth defects.
I personally like to take Elevit during TTC and pregnancy but there are other alternatives to Elevit which pharmacys should stock. Having said that, if you dont want to take anything and you have a good diet you should only need folic acid.

Just bear in mind the Elevit has higher levels of the vitamins (not just folic acid) then the other brands but it does not have Iodine.. although its extremely rare that you would not get enough Iodine considering salt is iodised and is our processed foods....
I am taking elevit but that is because I am bf and have been pg less than a year ago and my diet is crap in early pg (pies and chocolate are not are varied diet).
