Topic: Evening dress needed Posted: 16 June 2010 at 8:58pm |
I have two formal functions to go to in July and need a maternity evening/cocktail dress.
Does anyone know of anywhere you can get them reasonably priced? Or better yet, hire them? I can't afford to spend a lot of money.
I am an 8 - 10, and will be about 23 - 24 weeks, so not huge. What about normal evening dresses?

I have a nice black one you could borrow if you like? It's not a maternity one but it's empire line and falls nicely over your bump. I was about 23 weeks when I wore it too. I will PM you a photo to see what you think.

Thanks for the ideas guys, and thanks Kaiz. Do you have any pics of the dress you have??
I have had an eye on trademe the last couple of days, but the first event is only a few weeks away... only just found out about it so not much notice!
Great idea about the empire line one.... I'll have a look on trademe for something.
Does anyone know if the hire places around Wellington would have anything maternity? Probably not, right?

Try Wilkinson's (sp?) I think that's the name but I've forgotten! On Lambton (sp?) Quay in town. They're up some stairs near Borders but right next door to Amazon iykwim!
They do hire dresses, A lot of school ball stuff but they also have some others. Not sure about maternity but you might find something suitable.

Have a look at Ezibuy online - there are lots of dresses for under $50 that would be fine during pregnancy.

Bugger, I have a M Pumpkin patch dress you could have borrowed, you could just pay postage here & back but it'd be too big for you.
It's really cool, it's black with a heap of silver/black beads on the front
