I'm wondering if anyone else is suffering from insomnia? I'm in week 7 now, and since early week 5, it's the same every night. I fall asleep as soon as my head hits my pillow, I wake up sometime between 1 and 2 am to g to the toilet, fall asleep again, and then between 4 and 5 am I wake up and stay awake until my alarm goes off around 7.
This is really new to me, and I have no idea what to do about it.
Obviously it doesn't help the fact that I'm exhausted all day as it is, since I got preggers.
Imagine if this lasts till week 40......!

This so used to happen to me. It only lasted a month or so though. I used to get up and play computer games at 3am for a few hours until work. It is so bizarre!

Yeah I have had similar sleeping/waking patterns on and off throughout my pregnancy so far, it can be quite frustrating! But it will probably come and go for you as well, so hang in there. Any way you can get a day time nap? I found that helped balance out the fact that I wasn't sleeping so well at night.

Yip sleeping patterns all over the place here too. Somehow you just manage to survive even though you don't feel like you have any energy to do so. Hang in there.

I am still having that problem, still really tired so I fall asleep once my head hits the pillow and wake up about 3 times during the night, some times it takes 2 hours to get back to sleep.

I wish I could sleep through the whole night while I still can lol.

I had huge issues sleeping. After a long time of trying to sort it out, I gave up and ended up napping during the day and getting what sleep I could at night... but I ended up staying awake a lot, doing heaps of packing (we were moving house) and I ended up setting up most of the nursery at night, haha. I also watched every single season of scrubs. Haha.

I'm still having this problem on and off, especially as i seem to be getting up to the bathroom every two hours again.

I did go through a good patch for several weeks and didn't have too many problems but now it is back. Think however this is because DH had been sleeping in the spare room so I had plenty of space ftio stretch out and for all my pillows, but my parents are staying with us for 2 weeks and so he has had to move back ionto our bed and this is keeping me awake again.

Have been finding that rather than laying in bed tossing and turning for two hours I would take a blanket and go curl up on the couch (also to avoid disturbing DH) with a book and am usually finding that i drop back to sleep fairly quickly.

Watched some of Wimbldon last night so if you are a tennis fan it's not too bad and the Olympics start in August

Yip, same here. First trimester I would wake at about 1 consistently, and then every two hours. Second trimester would wake at 3 till 6 then go back to sleep. Last trimester I wake 3-4 times a night but go back to sleep quickly. I figure it's my body getting used to life on a baby's timetable! Mine was so bad that by week 12, my GP put me onto sleeping tablets for a week. It just broke up that pattern and let me get back to a more normal sleep pattern for a while. I also tried Rescue Remedy sleep and another homeopathic med but to no avail - hard drugs for me! Hang in there and get rest when you can. You should be able to try homeopathic stuff in the first trimester, so you could give that a go.

I'm waking up lots during the nights too, but I think its got a lot to do with the fact that my brain just refuses to shut down! so many things are running through my mind! I'm hoping once the novelty wears off a bit (only found out 5 days ago!) that i'll be able to switch my brain off at bedtime!

I agree with everyone else, my sleep has been all over the place, I don't think I've had a decent nights sleep in months.

Thanks guys! It's so good to know I'm not alone in this, and that it's actually quite common.

I'm working full time, but today during my lunchbreak I actually curled up in my car and had a wee snooze. (Collegues don't know yet, therefore escape to the car). And you know what, I did feel less tired during the afternoon, and I also felt less sick. So this may become a regular thing.
