    Posted: 23 May 2008 at 10:12am
I first asked a question about this in the TTC forum, but thought now that I'm over here (cross fingers I stay here!) I thought it more appropriate I post over here.

Anyway here is what my update is:

(just guessing at the exact dpo)
4w1d (16dpo) = 52
4w4d               = 151
4w5d               = 356
5w                    = 798

So they are still low, but nurse and midwife both seem happy that they are doubling in the right amount of time.

I have to get more done tomorrow and monday (doctor has requested this)..

I know some have said numbers can stress you out more, but my doctor suggested getting this done.

If you are worried Nerfertiti, have a look at the Diagnostic Medlab website - they have a handbook which you can view online and it has a graph showing the variance in HCG levels.

Nerfetiti those numbers look perfect to me (not that i'm an expert). You wouldn't want them to be more than doubling, I read on the net (i know i'm bad for googling) that hcg levels rising too fast is as bad as them not doubling.

They look good, its good cos they are doubling, it doesnt matter how high they are. Mine were VERY high, I thought I was gonna have more than one in there but was just one healthy baby.

5w 2d = 1718! Yah!!

When doc gave me forms for the serial readings, that included monday and wednesday of next week. Not too sure if I'll do them as they are rising! I know it doesn't guarantee anything, but has made me feel better.

I had another blood test today and the level was 3129. So it hasn't quite doubled in 48hrs.

I googled (god forbid!), but found on several differnt sites, that once levels get over 1000, that they cant take the 72hrs to double.

I'm pretty sure they say numbers should double every 48-72hrs - so my numbers should be ok?

Midwife says to just wait until scan which will be in a couple more weeks. Whereas I still have 1 more form left for an hcg test from doc. So I will do this just to see what they say on wednesday.

But just wondered if anyone has has heard of the levels taking longer once 1000 is reached.

Thanks.

My doc said to me they should double every 48-72 hours so you fall well within that range. The other thing I found with googling was that you should get at least a 60% raise in 48 hours. I would tell you to stop googling things but i'm so guilty of doing that myself it would be pretty hypocritical.

I think your midwifes advice is good, stressing about the numbers won't be doing you any good and ultimately won't change the outcome. Try to relax and just wait for the scan.

Yup absolutely! Mine did with the gremlins. Most people also don't know that they peak between 8-10 weeks then drop off to a plateau between 10-12 weeks and remain there for the rest of the pregnancy.

I am such a geek

And I am a pregnancy-after-miscarriage survivor - you don't get there without stressing over every tiny little thing, hCG levels included!
