Topic: Bananas - to bag or not to bag Posted: 22 May 2010 at 4:26pm |
This is one of those things that bug me when I go grocery shopping. I notice a lot of people pick up a bunch of bananas and put them in a plastic bag. Personally I don't see the point of putting them in a bag - they go straight in the trolley as is.
So, just for a bit of fun, I'm curious to hear what others do with their bananas

Don't bag, we wrap the sticker round at Pak 'n' Save.
We only bag things that we are getting more than 2/3 of. But we do bag small things like mandarins.

No bag... but I don't bag anything, checkout operators hate me lol. And bananas come already 'wrapped' in their skins, why on earth would you need a bag!

No I don't put bananas in a bag. I use cloth bags too for the groceries (shop at Countdown) but do use plastic bags for the other fruit/veges. Wish I didn't have to but we get heaps of fruit so not sure what else to do with it. Maybe I could make a few drawstring bags and use those, lol, dunno?

Going against everyone else, I've never really thought about it and use a bag for everything. Guess that's not very enviro-friendly and I take my reusable bags with me for the end, so no reason I can't put them in there.... will stop wasting bags

Yeah I'm the same as Chelle. I bag everything *slaps hand*
I'd never really thought about it, although now that I do the idea of my fruit and vege sitting at the bottom of a dirty shopping trolley does gross me out. Maybe I should look into cloth bags too

I don't bag bananas but I do bag other stuff just to get the bags. We re-use them for other things. My peeve is that Countdown and Foodtown don't provide paper bags for the mushrooms. At least not in my area.

No bag here either- I don't bag anything and take my own bags. i find that the checkout operators won't bag my shopping for me, even with a 15 month old toddler in tow. It really bugs me and despite saying something, it inevitably happens the next time I go.
Come on people- just because they don't fit on the plastic bag handles doesn't mean you can't pack my groceries
