Gee thanks Sheza, just remind me of all the bad things I have done to my children.

I swear I haven't got much better, Maddi is now missing a fingernail thanks to me jamming a finger in the door... twice.
I am still forever forgetting my kids too, the other night we went to pick up the girls from my parents and got busy watching TV. The programme finished and DH and I both head straight to the car before my mum had to politely remind us we had 2 sleeping girls that might be a little upset if we forget them... damm, nearly got away with it. We have left Maddi at a friends house too with out noticing.

Actually I have far to many stories of accidentally hurting my children or leaving them places... maybe I really am the worst mum of the year

Yes DJ, confess!

Had to laugh at some of the stories, I've done a few of them myself - head banging against door frame/car, snipping off a bit of skin while cutting nails etc but the most awful story was when DS2 first came home.   To say I was overwhelmed was an understatement. I was getting use to operating his oxygen and decided to change his oxygen prongs (have no idea why??), instead of plugging the new prones into the oxygen cyclinder, I left his old prones attached (hence, he was getting no oxygen). Thankfully he was fine (he didn't require much oxygen at that stage and was fully monitored), but DH and I couldn't work out why he wasn't saturation at the correct level, even with increasing the oxygen It took us a little while to work it out too. It was a great lesson to learn, I never did that again!

We went to the Warehouse at Silvia Park & had DS3 a few weeks old asleep in his Phil & Teds pram, I had a pram bag on it the my wallet fits in, DS2 was in a trolley & DS1 walking we bought heaps of stuff & at the check out I took my wallet out of the bag & parked the pram by the wall so people could walk past & we still could see DS3.

DH push the trolley & out we walked, past a few shops & I then said to DH in a slightly panicked voice "Where's my bag" to which he replied "where is the pram" & then it was OMG where's the baby....we raced back s there he was fast asleep by the wall.....eeeeek

When J was about 8 weeks old, I was living on 2 hours broken sleep, with a refuxy baby and I popped him in a friends car, we drove 20 minutes and I went to get him out and neither he nor the capsule were strapped in

I still feel guilty because it happened 3 more times!!!!!

none of my own yet but my mum had a couple:

I made it a block and a half away in town when I was 4 before she noticed. the only way that I got caught was that a lady saw me leaving the shop and followed me.

Also when my brother was about 6 he decided to try ride his skateboard down the driveway, its a dirt driveway. He went headfirst on to the driveway and got a huge cut in his head that bled lots, and mum was no where to be found. I was 8 and ended up patching him up before mum reappeared 15 mins later, she was having a shower

Hmmm DD rolled off the couch at 8 weeks old whoops I felt stink, then she rolled off our bed at about 4months and hit her head on a dressing table. Then one day she was climbing round our bed and we were watching her, DP had gone to the bathroom and said watch her. I was sitting right there with her in reach and she was crawling looking over the end of the bed and she was giggling away she turned her head to look at me obviously thought she was playing and turned around to sit down, yep no bed behind her so she fell backwards. Poor little girl.

Mum used to leave our youngest brother in the car seat.

One of mums friends also taught her then 6yr old to wait by the lamp post after school and not to move and she would pick her up. The mum was really tired and at about 2pm thought oh I'll just lie down for abit before I have to go and get DD. She woke up at 5pm and though I've forgotten something. Raced to school and found DD standing by the pole. Now at 17 she won't let her mum forget it

My Mum dislocated my shoulder twice when I was about 2. She was holding my sister who was newborn at that stage and had me by the hand. I through a tanty and tried to pull away from her and she yanked my arm and my shoulder came out of its socket. The second time she did it was only about 2 months later - she again was holding my sister but was trying to help me up a curb by pulling me up by my hand. She still feels guilty about it.

G is just starting to walk and often holds on to the leg of my pants. I am forever moving away too fast coz I don't realise she is there and she falls flat on her face. I always feel terrible about it.

How can I be laughing at these?!

Here's mine so far, although they pale in comparison to some of yours.

I had a grumpy grizzly baby so I was carrying her around trying to do things one handed. At some stage I heard this funny squeaking sound and she had latched onto the button of my PJ's and was sucking madly. So not only had I not noticed she was still hungry, she was going to choke on a button.

Early morning and I could hear Kiara starting to grizzle. I waited and it stopped. She carried this on for about 2 1/2 hours before she made more of a fuss and I got up to check on her. Her bassinet was tipped up because of her reflux and she'd managed to wriggle her way right down to the bottom of the bassinet so that her bottom was on the end, her little legs were waggling in the air and her head was completely under the blankets.

Finally, last weekend we were walking in the park with Kiara in the buggy. My brother and I were chatting away and Kiara started having a little grizzle. I ignored her. 45 mins later we got home and when I looked in the pram her beanie had migrated to her face covering her eyes and looking like some alien trying to suck out her brains. I guess she'd been like that the whole walk. I want to know how it can stay perched on her face like that when I can't damn well keep in on her head where it's meant to be.

Aw I had a horrible moment yesterday, I popped T on our bed to get ready for a nap and somehow my thumbnail scratched her face! It drew blood and everything and she just burst into tears, as did I . She was over it well before I was, and she now has a big T shape under her eye to remind me of my bad mummy moment!

My worst moment was when DS was 6 weeks. It was nearly midnight and I had just been feeding him and went with him in my arms to get a snack from the pantry. I had him lying down the length of my arm, with his head in my palm, like you can do when they are so little. As I reached into the pantry I bumped a shelf and a can of peaches fell directly onto DS's forehead and then onto the bench. It had a huge dent in it - I always hoped it was from the bench, not DS's head. He howled and I freaked out bigtime. I rang healthline and they were asking me if I could feel any depressions in his head. I had never really felt his skull before, but if you have ever felt a baby's skull, well not being all fused yet there are all sorts of lumps and bumps. This freaked me out even more so I rushed to A&E, just down the road. He was fine by then and smiled at the doctors.
DH has never let me forget it.

I dont know why but I love this thread makes me laugh every time, I promise I'm not a sicko!!!

Latest ones in our house hold..

At the park one day DS (about 18mths then) was playing happily in the little kids area and I got a text, I was busy reading then replying and next thing when I look up DS is over by the big kids area and as I break out into a run he sees me and bolts up the stairs and flings himself face first down the big kids slide as if its a great joke then his face drops as he goes over these big waves / bumps in the slide and superman's off at the bottom face first into the bark!!! OMG I felt sooooooooo bad, I must have looked like the worst mother ignoring her child and texting!!

Last week we were throwing the ball around the garden and DS (22mths) says Higher Higher so I hiff it up in air but mis judge it coming down and it smacks him right in the face as he's watching it go up then down.

There are loads more I'm sure...but on the flip side he's given me two black eyes so far (accidentally) so I think he gets his own back every now and again

I was looking for something in the cupboard about 1 week ago and a can of chopped tomatoes fell out and landed on DSs nose. It left a cut right across his nose, poor thing!!

Oh these both have happened to me too (I feel bad about it now that I see people saying this and I go oh yeah that happened once...)

She regularly wriggled under the covers in her bassinet. In the end I put her in the cot and she doesn't wriggle

And hats always fall over half her face! Poor thing gets so worked up coz she can't see!
