The day I got my BFP, i was so excited I almost forgot to pull up my pants before I ran out to show DH(it showed before I had even finished peeing).

By that afternoon I was freaking out. With the same worries, how can we afford to do this etc. I guess its something we all go through, especially when we are constantly being told how bad things are getting financially.

My sister has 2 kids and they live on one income and her mantra is.. you pay all the essentials for living and then just make do if theres anything left.

I keep reminding myself that whenever I get spooked.

Dont worry chick, Im sure its worth the worry Funny how they get us worrying even before they are here!

we all freak out its only natural as you want the best for your children. sorry to say you are normal with your fears/concerns its a bi step but a well worth one.

DH's are funny like that mine always wanted to have children in a 5 year plan so that we would have time to save etc. Well fate had a different plan and after losing number one to a MC everything changed and within that 5 years we are married and have number 2 child on the way and wouldnt have it any other way. You learn to budget, you learn to cope and these little people have such an impact on you its crazy!!

Also buy nappies when they are on special New World and the Warehouse do good specials from time to time on huggies... and we bought (from our TTC stage) & borrowed alot of stuff as well...people are amazing when you tell them that you are expecting and trademe is a good place too... LOL

good luck!!

Like everyone says that stress is normal.
Even we I was around 8 months preggers I was questioning things lol. It'll all work out. I would definitely recommend buying things over the course of your pregnancy, makes it a lot easier....Good luck TTC!!

That's precisely how I feel. We have had two full time incomes forever and going down to one is going to be a struggle. We will be able to pay the bills but not have much else left over and we don't believe in credit cards!

It sucks to think I will need to go back to work 6-12 months after the baby is born when I would like to be able to be a SAHM.

Ok, this is from a kind of different perspective....I actually envy you for losing your cluck. I'm at the stage where a baby is something that I want just so badly, that I am reduced almost to tears when I see a mum to be, because I so badly want that to be me. We are TTC at the end of this year, but that is sooooo far away, and I have this horrible feeling that it will be too late...money will be tight, but we have amazing family support and I know that we will MAKE it work...but it's still soooo far away, and DF doesn't really understand this overwhelming desire I have - yes he would like children now and if we won Lotto, it would be happening now, but it doesn't consume him like it does me...

I know that sounds really obsessive I guess, TTC and children AREN'T the only thing I think about but yeah (I'm also planning a wedding, and doing house renovations and just generally living life.

Hey Minik8e, you don't sound obsessive at all and I know that is the case for many people in this forum. Don't worry, the end of the year isn't as far away as you think (it is almost June already) and it must be exciting to have your wedding to look forward to!

I really hope I don't get too clucky because I don't want to start getting overly upset every month that my AF shows up. Right now I am enjoying TTC and I hope it stays that way. Every month I don't get pregnant is another month we pay off more of the mortgage (always trying to look for a positive side!)

No it doesnt sounds obsessive at all! I cant say ive experienced the cluck to the same extent as you, but i have been in a place where DH had said he didnt want children at all. This made me question the need for our relationship becuase as far as I was concerned thats where we were ending up. He had never made it know to me in the past thaat he didnt want children, in fact quite the opposite!!
I would see women and be close to tears, knowing that i may never experience that. It is tough i know it is!!

I guess the point of this thread was to make it known to anyone that would listen that i wsa scared. I still very much want ot start my own family, but often voicing the fears etc can help

I really hope that this year flies for you and that soon you can experience motherhood for yourself hon, I really do

Yeah I can understand your fear - it's such a huge, immense, life-changing decision that will affect all factors of your life (wow, I just read that back - how reassuring!!!). I think I would be more worried if you WEREN'T scared (especially with your first bubs), but that would just be my opinion!!

Have your fears been alleviated a little?

I do know exactly where you're coming from, I guess I just needed to get it out and this seemed like an ok place - sorry!! One of my colleague's DILs came into the office yesterday, she's 25 weeks pregnant and yeah hehehe
