What is your nightime bedtime routine?

Hello,

DS is 4 months old (approx) and his routine is bath then feed (in the dark pretty much) and then bed awake to self settle to sleep. He loves anticipating what is happening and gets excited about it. And rarely cries before sleep hits.

What is your nighttime bedtime routine?

At what age will we be most likely to change from not having a feed just before bed?

we have dinner, bath, feed, stories then bed, however DD has decided that she wants another feed before bed after the stories *sigh

Much the same here too - dinner, bath, bf, bed - starting giving her a little extra playtime before bed - think I'll start adding in a story.

DD hates getting taken out of the bath and being dressed.

Hey Lillybetts, I hear you on the flexibility. I was more thinking that DD needs dinner when she needs dinner, not when we are ready to give it to her. We had three months travelling round in a campervan (a small one) with the routine being breakfast when we got up, lunch a bit later and the only vague routine we had was around bedtime. We all survived! It is good to be home and able to have more of a routine, but DD has shown her ability to cope without. I'd like her to be able to come out with us and be comfortable enough to sleep, even if we need to use rocking/feeding to help. Hope you all enjoyed the party!

I dont answer the phone during bed or bath times when I am alone, but if there are two of us here...

As for travelling with a baby, it was so easy! Yes it helps that she is essentially a very good baby, and as long as we fed her and gave her chance to sleep (this ended up mainly being when driving or in the front/back pack and she is too nosy to sleep if we just pulled over somewhere new) we didnt have any problems. She wasnt crawling or demanding to stop at every playground / mcdonalds / shoe shop. We had to adjust the way we travel, slow down, not do such long hikes, but we got so much enjoyment from her enjoyment of new, and often very simple things. She could, and still does, only put up with 1-1.5 hours in the buggy or front/backpack, so lots of breaks when walking. I wouldnt normally stop to look at seagulls, but they are apparently very funny! DH and I have travelled a fair bit before DD came along, and we didnt want to stop. That was a bit of a trial trip, but it went so well we'll certainly do more.   If anyone wants to know more, feel free to PM me. wow! At least if they are that strict, you know exactly when not to call!! We are flexible with time depending on how DD is each day. When I wrote the first post we missed/ignored her "I'm really tired and over this" cues and that messes up the evening for us all. I do love the whole bath-bed routine, DD loves her bath or shower and its so much fun.

As for showering, we stopped at a camp ground every few nights for a shower, we took a large container for DD to bath in, though she did tend to just hop in the shower with us. The rest of the time we free camped or stayed at DOC sites. We couldnt afford a camp ground every night. We were in the South Island from mid-Jan for 10 weeks, so had warm weather for most of it, but it did get cold towards the end. We ended up buying some winter clothes and a blanket earlier than we planned! We did notice it getting warmer as we got further north, and the last couple of weeks in the North Island were much warmer! We travelled when DD was 3.5 - 6.5 months old.
