Does anyone know of any movement/gym classes for babies in Auckland. Ava is 7 months old and we've looked into Jumping beans but it is quite expensive.

The Auckland City libraries run free active movement sessions. They dont have all the fancy gym equipment that they have at jumping beans .. but it helps give you ideas to encourage movement.

Contact your local YMCA. We take Oli to Tiny Tots at our local Y, and he loves it. We used to go to Jumping Beans so have tried both and we prefer Tiny Tots as he seems a lot more comfortable with the approach.

I'm not sure where in Aucks you are, but I know that Pakuranga Community Centre has baby/toddler gym sessions for something like $30 a term. You could check out your local community centre and they might have something similar

Hi Howick recreation Centre, Pakuranga Recreation Centre and Allan Brewster (in Papatoetoe) all have Baby Gym classes which are $50-$60 for the term. Weekend classes are all full for next term but there are some bookings in weekdays if that suits Good Luck!

I know what you mean about jumping beans... I really wanted DD to go this term but it isnt really in our budget and the session times were unsuitable as well (St Johns one had DD's session at 1245??? thats nap time in our house!)

The local recreation centre dont do baby gym for under ones so dont really know where else to go???

YMCA may be the way to go, havent looked into them yet

ETA... looks like YMCA doesnt have classes for under 1's either, havent spoken to anybody but there is nothing on their website...

I did Jumping beans with Ella and she LOVED it and the style of it really suited her (she still asks every now and then if she can do it again). We only did a term or 2 during the winter months and then dropped it during spring/summer. Have also tried Playgym (on the North Shore) but found 1/2 the time they spent explaining all the equipment so she got bored very quickly.

Tom is having his 1st term of Jumping beans this term
