Hi All,

We are after a new car so we can fit in #2 when "it" arrives. We were looking at a Mazda MPV, but cant find out easily if we can put our car seats in the middle seats - the captains chairs. We need to get anchor points fitted - does any one know if we can do this in a MPV?

Are there any cars out there that you cant get anchor points installed in? (And please no one say cars with no back seats!!)

We dont want to have to get new car seats just to fit a car we like, so need to get something either with the anchor points ready there or something we can get the fitted in. I am trying to get time to go into our local plunket car seat rental place, but they are only open a few hours a week, and I happen to be working those hours.

Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions.

Its 2000. Do some years not have anchor points? Or cant be fitted?

Thanks.

Ive never heard of any car that an anchor bolt cant be fitted. Even had one installed in DH's work van. I think it would be more of an issue to make sure than your carseats fit well in the backseat- some cars have funny shaped seats, big angles, side padding etc, which makes it hard to fit carseats well- I would put the carseats in the car first,....and if we were looking at a new car, we would have made sure we could fit 3 carseats in a row. Even if u are defiantly stopping at 2 kids,...your kids will be in carseats for a very long time- the current recommendation from ACC and plunket is til the child is 148cm tall- and they dont recommend bottom-only booosters for any age group- so it would be good to be able to have room for your childs friend too!

Our plunket run free anchor bolt insullation sessions at a local garage, so would be worth asking about that too!

I know some adults that are 148cm!!! That's crazy! I have also never heard of a car that can't have anchor points fitted? Pretty sure almost any car could?

Yeah I alway joke that DD will still be in a booster when she is learing to drive! Its not law tho, just the recommendation by ACC and plunket.

thanks all. We were planning to try the car seat in any car we were interested in anyway. and yeah, I know some very short adults that would benefit from using a booster to see over the steering wheel!
