DD has a manky green lamb blanket that we bought her when she was little, she absolutely LOVES it and tries to take it with her wherever she goes. She likes sucking on the ears, hands and nose. BUT I have just noticed that she has put a hole in the nose from sucking on it too much. We did buy two but one has been mislaid and no idea where it is. I can buy more but they are all over the USA and cost $40USD plus shipping would rather not pay that much knowing that she might reject it as its not blankie.
I am thinking I would rather buy her a new comforter and hope she attaches to that. Would you just get rid of the old blanky completely out of sight out of mind type thing (I am thinking put it away in a cupboard so she can have it as a keepsake when she's older) or do it gently?
She will go to sleep with a pink one that we have but the green one is favourite. I get the feeling she may scream blue murder the first night without it.
Maybe I should take it away first thing in the morning and give her the new one then she will have the new one. AGGHHH I don't know what to do.
We got rid of DS' "bunny" when he turned two. It was a flat rabit which we attached dummies to. We were getting rid of it to get rid of the dummies.
A couple of weeks later we noticed that he'd switched his attachment to "rabbit" another stuffed toy. That one we don't have spares of - lol. But yeah, he just switched his affections by himself.
