QuoteReplyTopic: DD up all night wanting to go wees Posted: 25 October 2011 at 8:10pm
Does anyone have any tips? DD is 2 and 8 mths and has been TT'd trained since last summer, age 2, for day time. I've always put her in a cloth or pull up nappy for naps and nighttime though. I'm using pullups at night in the hopes she'll be able to start going toilet herself at night, but usually I help her. She usually starts to cry at night until I go in, and she says she needs to go toilet, most of the time she goes wees, unless she's done it too many times close together. The problem is that on some nights lately she is doing this up to 4 times a night, and like tonight, did it from when I put her to bed at 7, 4 times before 7.30pm. I guess that might be a way of delaying sleep but she is usually a very good sleeper. The middle of the night stuff is tiring though. (I always take her when I go to bed at about 10pm and she goes wees then) I guess if she's not sleeping well she may wake up and think she needs to go but she's quiet usually so I can only assume she is sleeping okay. Her door is usually closed as we have a small house, but maybe I need to open it, put her in knickers and leave her to it...then we'll have issues of her getting up and staying up I guess...what do you think? I get really tired on those nights she wants to go lots. She seems tireder in the day too after those nights. She doesn't say it hurts or anything...
Added:
I had her wee checked today and no UTI so at least its not that. She's in knickers so fingers crossed...
Have you tried putting to bed with no pants on at all? A friend of mine has worked out that this way her girl doesnt have the feeling of something on her bum so she gets up to pee. I would leave her door open so she can get up and do it herself, just have some night lights around for her.
My daughter is around about the same age as yours and she's been toilet trained since January. I tried night time toilet training about a month ago and struck the same sort of problem. I think by drawing attention to being dry at night I made my daughter anxious about it and then she felt the need to get up upteen dozen times at night to go to the toilet to make sure she was dry. I put her back in pull ups and put the potty right beside the bed with one of those touch lamps in her reach. Now she often will get out of bed and go sometime between being put to bed and when I go to bed, occasionally in the middle of the night, and always first thing in the morning before I go in. She always calls out to me after she goes but she seems to take pride in being able to do it herself. She is still in pullups at night but is dry most nights now.
Putting knickers on seems to have helped, maybe she was hot in the pull ups too? She's gone two nights dry in knickers now. She's still being tricky after she first goes to bed but maybe that's an attention thing...
