Take an empty water bottle with you. You can full it up on the plane and don't have to worry about trying to get a drink from busy staff :-) If you're bfing you may like to take a few extra snacks too.
I had snaplock bags set up for nappy changes so I didn't need to take too much with me. I'd include some dettol wipes next time (some people weren't very clean!) (I could keep the snaplock bag in the chair pocket so I didn't need to get out my bag and dig through it every time. DS was in an AIO so not too many articles of clothing to deal with.)
Take a dummy (even if bubs doesn't normally use one) just in case bubs doesn't want to drink on take off and landing - it's the only time my DS ever used one.
My DS was 2.5 months when we flew home (over 50 hours door to door) and it was not too hard. He stayed awake a lot but was generally happy and their were lots of Gran's on the plane volunteering to give him cuddles (and me a break!).
I just recently flew with an 11 week old to the States and it was (phew) much easier than I had anticipated. A few tips- carry light! They don't need that much. Yes, have a few extra pairs of clothes just in case, but you don't need a lot to entertain your baby at that age. Carrying bag + bubs gets heavy! I would have a small bag of essentials like burp cloth, dummy, etc, handy inside your larger bag. If you are sitting in the bassinet row they are at the bulkhead so your bags will need to be up for takeoff and landing. We could take the pram all the way to the gate, which was great. Got it when we deplaned on way there, but on the way back it went all the way to baggage claim so the front pack is a good idea so you are handsfree through customs. I was happy we had the pram in the airport as we could let him sleep in between all the chaos, where he was used to sleeping (in carry cot). Every airport had no issue with us pushing it through to the gate- I think they would expect it when they are that young. He slept well on the plane with the noise and bumps, but I did take a muslin and pegs just to cover the bassinet so it stayed dark for him. Best of luck and don't stress it- great to travel at this age when they are not mobile and don't need too much in terms of stimulation!
Also the hardest part was just the whole airport/boarding process as he got so overstimulated and overtired. He even had a cold and their wasn't any issue with going up and down- I did have a dummy in for the entire duration of the descent.
