Get yourself a box of urals, drink a she-it load of water and remember to pee within 30 mins of intercourse! That is what I got told when I was having them 10 years ago.
P.S
Basically it is just e.coli getting into your urethra so lots of flushing. If in doubt use some cranberry tablets but not after O.

If they are a regular thing then I would see you dr about going on the low dose antib to clear yourself up. They work wonders and I have a few left over and if I feel an UTI coming on I take one and its doesn't happen. Drinking lots of water to flush everything out and going pee after sex is a must. They didn't stop me from getting pregnant.
I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I was sure that I had some information about its effects on cervical mucus some where... basically making it harder for the spermies to reach the egg!! It has no adverse effects during pregnancy I don't think though :)

I am also a long term sufferer but have not had one in about 7 years!! Very exciting! I take cranberry tablets daily and also have a glass of cranberry juice at night. I stopped taking them about 2 months ago as started taking folic acid instead (couldn't afford both). They are fantastic!
