Topic: Help re: Stopping Pill & TTC Posted: 13 March 2007 at 11:50am |
Hi everyone
Nice to meet you all, what a great way to chat and share ideas & resources!
If anyone could offer any advice on stopping the pill and TTC. I've read you should ideally wait 2 or 3 months after stopping the pill before TTC??
Another thing is I had AF, then started back on the pill for the next month, took 3 pills(3 days) then stopped which brought on another 3 day AF. If I had continued the pill I would be having AF now but I'm not... Would I have to take the date of expecting AF when it started again for 3 days?? I hope someone maybe able to understand what I'm on about... I'm confused

I think the waiting thing after stopping the pill is just to clear the synthetic hormones out of your system, and let things settle down. But, there are plenty of girls out there who have fallen pg straight off the pill, so I don't think it matters much. YOu should start taking pg vitamins and/or folic acid asap though.
I know exactly what you mean about AF - I stopped the pill part way through a cycle, which brought on another period. My period then worked itself vaguely off that second period, not when my period would normally have been due. Just see what happens over the next month or so - if you are going to temp, I'd start when you start your next cycle and go from there.
I hope that helps! Or at least, didn't confuse you more!
The other thing is, if you are thinking you might be pg, test. It's worth it to put your mind at ease or whatever.

Thanks for that Ginger
That makes sense to me. I have never been one to keep muck track of AF! I did a test but was BFN, I'm guessing AF will be due next week so will just see what happens then. I've started Folic Acid in preparation.

I would personally wait until you have had one full and normal cycle - it makes it much easier to get your dates sorted once you do fall pregnant.
That said - I know it's easier said than done when you're excited and eager to get started!
Good luck with trying Deestorm. :o)

If you aren't sure about dates, it is a good excuse for an early scan! I had to have an eaarly scan because my cycle is irregular - late ov, and it was cool seeing things at around 7 weeks rather than waiting to 12 weeks for the nuchal scan.

That's exactly what I was thinking miss. Doesn't matter if you aren't sure of your dates because a scan can give you that information.
