Hi i'm new here

DH & I are in talks of ttc #2.
I have to be able to fly domesticly(sp?) in mid Feb next year, anyone know how far along in pregnancy it is safe to fly?
When do you think the earliest we should start ttc is taking this into account?

Thanks

If you are pg when you want to fly, you will need to check it with your mw if you are in your final trimester (ie 6-9 mos pg) before flying.

I think domestically you can fly until you're about 36 or 38 weeks. Internationally, the cut off date is quite a bit earlier. I flew domestically at 35 weeks & it was fine. I think it's more of a problem with the longer flights because if something happened you couldn't exactly just get off!!

36 weeks domestically, 32 weeks internationally except to the States where I *think* it is 28 weeks (they are more paranoid about you giving birth while you're there and baby being a US citizen ).

You do need a letter/confirmation from your midwife or OB tho - they may not ask, but if they do and you can't provide one they can refuse to carry you.

Thanks heaps

I flew when pregnant with #1 at 2months to Australia, and again at about 5months to Fiji and never had a problem.

Just need to do the calculations(sp?) to see when we should start ttc.

Different airlines have different cut offs- most will say on their websites or just give them a call. Air NZ you are allowed to fly up to 32 weeks internationally or 36 weeks if you have a note from your Dr. Some cut off as early as 28 weeks though and its really hard to get travel insurance after 28 weeks too.

i flew at 34 weeks with both kids, both fine, although uncomfortable. Both times I had notes from the doctor but was only asked by Japan Airline to produce it. Freedom didn't care - I think they would've asked me to pay for an extra seat had I given birth on the plane!!
