I bought this book last weekend, and started it yesterday. It's a fab book and I'm really enjoying it. To be honest, although it's a best seller, I wasn't really too sure what it was about but, basically, it's encouraging happiness. I'm still in the early part of the book, and yes, it's definitely about food and eating, but it looks at what you eat, when and why, and seems to give excellent lessons on improving your happiness and therefore your habits in relation to food.

I'll keep you posted as I get further into the book, but I must say that I am a big reader and this is one of the most enjoyable books I've read in ages.

Have any of you read Save Karyn? That's another good book with valuable lessons! Every now and again when my Visa bill gets a bit ...well, when they can hardly fit the statement pages in the envelope to send me the bill ...I give Save Karyn a read, and I'm too terrified to go shopping again for at least a month!

And they don't either! When we were there the other week I had heard about that book and was keeping an eye out for overweight woman and they were all slim! The only ones that weren't had cameras around their necks and bum bags

Yep, portion control appears to be a big thing. One suggestion she makes early on is to keep a diary of everything that goes into your mouth for 3 weeks. I've heard this suggested any number of times by different healthy eating people *but* the difference here is you must also note down what time you eat it, and where you are when you eat it. It's focussing on more aspects of your life than just food - that's what I like about it. Plus there are recipes! THe book suggests that after the 3 week diary period, start your 'new life' with a weekend of nothing but Leek Soup (this is very simplified!), and gives a recipe. I said to DH I might try it, and I don't know that I've *ever* seen him look more horrified!
