QuoteReplyTopic: how to keep bubs temp even at night?? Posted: 24 September 2007 at 10:11am
I had this problem with Bay and now all over again with Astin!!
I dress him according to temp at night and blanket him according to the nights temp also but then he sleeps all night (and so do i!!) and the temp drops soooooo much that when he wakes for a feed at 6-7am or when i get up to go luu around 3am sometimes i check him and hes freezing!!!!!!!!
How do find the happy medium??? i dont want to have to wake him just to add more clothes or set my alarm just to wake and put blankets on him!!...or is that how its got to be????
Im having this same prob too. Room is 24 degrees at bedtime so we dress Andy is his sack to suit that temp but by 3am i'ts 13 degrees! = poor frozen baby!
I've put the heater back in his room and pop it on when I give him a feed during the night. Am thinking that I may need to start setting the alarm to get up and do it. Seems such a waste to break sleep if I don't really need to!
How about buying a timer for the heater. I picked one up from somewhere (sorry cant remember where..probably dick smith) and it wasnt expensive and you just plug that in the wall and the heater in that. Then you could tell the heater to come on at 3am.
Daniel goes to bed at 6:30ish and I blanket him according to the temp it is at the time, when DH goes in at 10:30pm for a dream feed he adds more blankets then, in the morning Daniel is still a nice temp.. so maybe go in before bed and put a couple more blankets on if they are needed

my thoughts exactly!!
Il have to look into the timer thing. not sure if we can use it as we have wall mounted heating systems that arnt meant to be left on at night but i shall def look into it before i have one frozen bubs!!!

Astins last feed is at 10pm but the temp drops around midnight
I used to use a timer on Maya's heater, now I just use an oil fin heater with a thermostat set on low in the gremlins room to keep the temperature even. I put it on when I go to bed.
You could always grab a small oil fin heater to put in his room so you don't have to have the heating system on Amber, I think ours was like $30 at the Warehouse.

Remember though to check down his back to see how warm he is. Kaleb often has cold hands but the rest of him is quite toasty. (I get cold hands too...)
In BOP he'll probably be fine so long as it is just his hands and the rest of his body is fine. We had to leave 2 of our girls' hands untucked cause they used to suckle them when sleeping.
