Topic: BFN but still no AF Posted: 21 December 2006 at 6:44am |
My last period started on the 11th of November, so as yesterday was day 40 of my cycle, and I've had slightly sore breasts, but no sign on an impeding period (no bloating), I decided to test last night. But it was negative. my last 2 cycles have been 32 & 35 days, but the 2 before that (after coming off the pill) were 44 & 46 days long. We aren't officially trying, so I haven't been charting & I have no idea if or when I ovulated. We only BD on the 14th & 25th day so I guess it was a long shot, still I was so excited that I might be pregnant, but now I'm just disappointed & quite gutted. And pissed off that I don't know when AF will come and why it hasn't yet. I guess I doesn't help it's christmas, so I'd love to be able to tell the hubby & family on Christmas day, plus know whether or not I can drink alcohol & eat whatever I want! Sorry, it's a bit long, it's good to get it off my chest so to speak. Is anyone else in or has been this situation? Any advice would be appreciated.

maybe go to the doctor and get a blood test....that way you will know for sure, and if you do it this morning then you should have the results by tonight or tomorrow morning.

from the doctor a blood test is free....just ring your doctors surgery and get the nurse to give you a blood form to get a preggy test.

Well here's the options:
* You are pregnant but it's very early days and so didn't show up on the test
* The test result was wrong
* You've had a slightly longer cycle this month so AF is another few days away (bummer about knowing when it's due know!)
It sure is frustrating, I went through a bit of time when I got pregnant with this one, not knowing which of those options it was. Turns out I had a long cycle and both the tests I did (a week apart) were too early. So then I was convinced that I wasn't ovulating for a bit, bought some close-fitting jeans, and voila it all happened a couple of weeks later lol
All the best for a BFP soon!

well, the nurse wasn't in yesterday & all the doctors were booked so I didn't get a blood test done, I figure I'll find out one way or another soon enough. And I've just started having a little spotting yesterday afternoon & this morning, so maybe AF is finally going to show up. (and my boobs are suddenly no longer tender!) Thanks for your support and merry christmas

it is so frustrating coming off the pill. My cycles ranged from 3 weeks to 8 weeks easily, so made it very hard TTC and knowing when to test. If you really want to sort the cycle out, I would temp/chart or using ovulation predictor kits, as they will tell you when you ovulate, and then you will know when your period is due. Only problem with the OPK's is that if you are irregular you can use a heap just trying to work out when you ovulate!
All the best, and hope you get the result you are after soon.
