jake has decided that he NEEDS Woody to go with his Buzz. Went to Kmart to discover the Woody he so desperately needs is $60!!! so am waiting for it to be on sale. Anyway, while we wait have decided to implement a chore chart so he can "earn" it. Just wondering what kid of chores you get your pre-schoolers to do - or what things you reward them for.
So far he gets a star if he:
Uses his manners without being reminded
Puts his rubbish in the bin
Puts his clothes in the basket
Sets the table (he actually loves this, the counting of the cutlery more than anything)
Helps me put his toys away
Am thinking possibly making his bed (only has a sheet and duvet so with help, could probably manage it)
is there anything else that you can think of? Don't want to have too many but figured I'll start the training young.
P.S He LOVED cleaning windows - he has a cloth and spray bottle - this is nice, but also leaves me with a huge mess to clean up - am not encouraging thisfor a while.
Charlotte has to make her bed and tidy her toys whenever shes finished playing. She likes to 'help' with the dishes but its basically playing- although she sometimes dries the plastic bits which is helpful. She has to put her clothes in the wash basket and put her plate on the bench. She also sets the table (which she loves too!).
Maybe you could get him to put his folded clothes in his draws (so wish DHs Mum had instilled that in him young!). Or do recycling?
recylcing might be the one as well. Funny as people keep throwing their beer bottles in our yard - luckily non have broken. Taine refers to them as "grandad's drink"
Hannah puts her clothes away in her drawer. I had friends who taught their kids to pull up their duvets in the morning and hence didn't bother with a top sheet for a while - made sense. Getting in the mail?
