Topic: BH - what do they feel like? Posted: 08 September 2007 at 10:39pm |
I'm trying to distinguish between possible BH and my ongoing condition that has to be monitored (contracted uterus - ie. contractions that cut off blood supply - definitely important enough to be monitored during pg!)
Can you tell me what BH is supposed to feel like? I'm having my usual pains, but they could be BH without me recognising them because they feel the same? TIA!
ETA: Where abouts do you feel them and to what intensity?

different for everyone, i didn't think ihad any, just had Paris getting into weird positions and stretching out my tummy i thought, but looking back it was BH, making my tummy all tight and very uncomfy.

The top of the fundas goes all hard for about 30 secs but they're not supposed to be painful.

Oh really busymum, thats interesting to know! I thought it was the baby moving really high up and applying pressure, might concentrate on this a bit more now, it could be BH afterall!!

Hi, I felt them across the top, like a band being tightened, they can be uncomfortable but shouldn't be painful. (I found they were most uncomfortable when sitting)

When I first felt them I thought it was the baby doing a big somersault and stretching my tummy. It would feel hard for a few seconds and then back to normal. Definately not painful but when I didnt know what was going on it could make me feel a bit squeemish!

BH make my whole tum go hard for about 30secs or longer. During the BH you can easily feel the bumps of the baby.

yeah it's confusing.. unless you know what you're looking for it's easy to just think bubs is being annoying and stretching out in weird places.

I never had them at all with Maya, but I did get random stretching and stitch pains with her.
With the gremlins I had them every few minutes from 33 weeks and they were strong enough to be picked up on a CTG trace. They were sometimes quite painful, my whole gump felt tight and was hard if you touched it, and at the same time I felt a tightening under my bump just by my pelvic bone.

Thanks ladies! It's so good to be able to rely on you all for guidance!
I don't think the pains I've been having are BH then, my tummy doesn't tighten and it IS painful - I'm just hoping it's not my other problem because they want me to get a specialist for it which I so cannot afford (about 2k all up).

I found that mine are also like a band that tightens, mine start from the top and seem to work its way down. They seem to last for about 30 seconds. Not painful, but can be very uncomfortable.
