QuoteReplyTopic: Soya Milk Formula Question Posted: 09 February 2007 at 7:54am
Our Paedatrician has said if I need to use formula to use Soya Milk One due to allergies and his reflux. Still toying wth the idea of the "odd" bottle here and there as think I am getting bit empty at night now - and have a function coming up where cant feed him...altho not too sure if I am empty?? (could just do with a break sometimes)
So...............
Which one do you use? Have you had troubles with constiptation on them?
This is really OT but my mw was telling me earlier this week that if I feel I'm low on milk or the milk is not enough for Krystiana, especially at nights, to go hard on the smoothies at supper time. She especially recommends coconut cream based ones but if you're not used to the taste, 50/50 it with milk or yoghurt and add a bit of vanilla essence.
That may help boost your milk and when you need a break, express? But obviously only if you want to go that way. Anyways, sorry I don't know the answer to your actual question.
Apparently it is 1 in 6 that have a dairy allergy are also intolerant of soy. When I stopped bfing Hannah we used the Infasoy formula - she seemed to like it better than the Karicare Soy one. Han went onto So Good when she was almost one (not meant to start that until 12 months).
Am starting to think that Han isnt tolerating soy anymore, but hopefully we are getting tested next week so will know for sure. If she is we will probably go back to Rice Milk. For under 12 months if they are allergic to milk and soy they get to go on special hypoallergenic formula.
Good luck Kelly, if its only going to be an occassional feed I think he'll be fine. We havent had any constipation issues, more the other way which is why I suspect another intolerance. The only problem with occassional soy formula feeds is they dont come in the little sachets, only big tins (well at our supermarket anyway).
