Right, now that I've got that scream of frustration out of my system, here's what's going on:

I had a dating scan today. Based on the fact I'm showing already, and my history of menstrating in the beginning of pregnancy and not getting a BFP until at least 5w6d, along with how my tummy actually feels at the moment, my GP was quite happy to say that I was probably 10 weeks rather than 5 weeks. The scan came back at being 4 weeks 5 days (which means I was 4 weeks exactly when I got the BFP on Sunday ). By my calculations, that puts my new due date as May 11th (LMP1 had EDD of 01 April, LMP2 had EDD of 07 May)

That aside, the technician also told me I have a cyst on my overy. She seemed to think that was the reason the GP thought I was further along when she manipulated my stomach.

I knew my dates could change (although I wasn't expecting by quite so much!), so although its frustrating I can cope with that. I know pregnancy can cause random cysts to appear, so that's going to be okay. What's rocked me is how big can this cyst be for there to be such a big difference between the size of Crumb and the size of my stomach?

When I saw this in pg I thought the worst!! I am almost relieved that you have a cyst Sounds pretty big though... from what I've read about cysts (not much) I would guess that the cyst should now reduce of it's own accord because you are pg?

The technician seemed to think that pregnancy caused the cyst. I'm too shaken to google it.

There wasn't enough detail to see that. I could see the sac, but not the baby inside. I understand they are going to refer me for a follow-up scan, so I guess we can check for things like that then!

Big hugs Becca! How frustrating. I hope that the cyst disappears of its own accord, or at the very least gives you no trouble.

Does this mean we will see you back in the May mums to be thread?

ok I googled it for you and it wasn't bad news... in what I get most times it will go on its own over time, normally by the 2nd trimester. BUT it does warn that Sex can rupture it so you maybe best to avoid it until its resolved but you can ask the specialist about that, it was just what read.

Hopefully you can write down some questions and see your doc about it soon.

Was it called a corpeus luteal cyst? I had them in both my last pregnancies (with the gremlins and with my m/c) and it's apparently a normal occurence as the corpeous luteum has to sustain the baby in the early weeks of pregnancy (believe me, I spent hours on google coz I was *convinced* the cyst was the cause of my m/c, but noooo ).

It's also possibly not the cyst that makes your tummy feel bigger but rather the fact that this is your 4th pregancy and it's not that long since your last pregnancy so everything is already stretched etc.

No idea, all I was told was that there was a cyst on my overy. Not very helpful, really. Still, I made an appointment with my GP for Monday so I'll see if she's got any more information.

daikini, sorry to hear that, it's pretty frustrating for you! Oh well, you will have to hang out in April AND May, and hopefully your follow-up scan will confirm dates for you a bit better

Hopefully the cyst will work itself out for you.

Grr about the date change! I've had mine change twice, with a month between the 1st and 3rd date they gave me.
