Gudday all,
I thought that I'd put a post up here for some of the newbie mum's (and some of the not so newbie repeaters) about the time when they started to feel comfortable and more 'at home' in the mothering business. I found with all of my kiddies that there was a magical time around the 4 month mark where they became much more pleasant to parent. Before then there were feeding issues, exhaustion from pregnancy, labour and sleep deprivation and general chaos associated with having a newborn. That's not to say that I didn't love them lots before then - just that it seemed harder work. It's sometimes useful to know that things will get a lot better - and that the sleepness nights are a time limited thing - and parenting does get to be more fun...it doesn't happen straight away, but it does happen.

Three months for us, a combination of things - we figured out the allergy thing and weaned them onto formula was the big one coz it meant they were no longer screaming in pain all the time. And it meant no more 4 hourly expressing for me. And around that age they were also happier to be awake on their playmat or in the bouncer for longer.

I reakon around 3-4 months for us, it's just got easier from there...i've found Maddie more of a dream the older she gets....unless she misses a nap then she turns feral (to steal Emma's phrase). But I do find less and less stressing me out which is nice.

Just watch...now she will throw a massive curve ball at me!

I think about 3 months for me... It's prob not Brenna that's changed too much, but more my mental ability to cope with stress and to not worry about the little things. I'm much more relaxed now and am loving it!!!!
My beautiful 2 girls...nearly 4 and 13 months

I was just saying to Anna today that Maddie seems to be the baby that never sleeps - I have never seen her looking tired lol!

From 3 months for me - they have a routine, stop the annoying growth spurts lol, and coo and smile

Hehehehe - you didn't see her start to turn feral at the auction yesterday??? I think the only thing distracting her was that Dadday had arrived!!

4 months for us too (but then I had to go back to work )

Would have probably been 2-3 months had she not have reacted to her 12 week jabs

Four months eh? Only 1 month 1 week and 6 days to go but who's counting

I must say I already love it more than at the begining - she has started really smiling at us now and it just makes it all soooo worth it.

I actually find that each wee time they go up a stage you love it more than the last so when your 6 week baby is smiling and stuff you can't imagine better than that.

For me 4 months was the magic time cos Jack stopped having night feeds every night.

I think you girls are going to hate me but I am going to say 3 weeks. And the only reason why it is 3 weeks and not straight from birth is because I had to get use to waking up so much at night. But she hardly cried was active from the word go. She use to only have 2 to 4 naps a day for 15 minutes each. The rest she was active so never really a blob.

Okay go on hate me now.

I would have to say for me around the 3-4 month age. Olivier started sleeping through the night around that stage. I must admit he still wakes from time to time though.
