QuoteReplyTopic: early morning waking *yawn* Posted: 04 September 2007 at 7:33am
Oh my god, Rhiannon has taken to waking at 4am in the morning and nothing will settle her back to sleep in her bed, so i bring her back to ours, but she then just tosses and turns for about an hour before going back to sleep.
any ideas on how to get her back to sleep would be really appreciated, im so so so tired...she goes back to sleep around 5/5.30ish and the alarm goes off at 6am for kent to get ready for work
Hi, I was at a sleep seminar where a lady had a similar question. response was roughly
Is she getting too much sleep during the day especially late afternoon?
Which this ladies wasn't.
Suggestions for help were
Putting into parents bed so that she learnt it wasn't time to get up yet and reset her body clock
Or taking duvet and sitting in their room until they settle (she even said fall asleep in the chair if you can)
Or holding child whilst sat in chair till they fall asleep and then putting them back in their own bed.
Once this was working she said if the child was still waking you would be able to start using the pop in method, until they start to resettle themselves.
Sorry not a quick fix and a very rough outlay of what she said.
rhiannon doesnt sleep in the afternoon, and have tried all the above, i think im just gonna have to be tough and do the go in, lie back down, pat tummy not say anything and then leave, and just keep going back lengthing the time.
We have been majorily out of routine since i was in hospital last week, so i think this has a big part to play, she stayed with my parents for 2 days and nights, (of course slept through the night there), so i think she is just waking to make sure that im around, as she will not settle for daddy....oh and of course she is teething as well....lol
Sounds like you are having everything thrown at you at once. Hope you get it sorted nothing worse than not having enough sleep.
Had a mare of night last night myself and then dad leaving at 5.30 woke him up again
