Topic: Leaking, sorry if TMI Posted: 07 August 2007 at 5:13pm |
I noticed my breasts started leaking colostrum about 1 week ago (at 17.5 weeks), but in everything I've read it said it shouldn't really start until 20/21 weeks. Can someone tell me if this is normal, or is it quite early? I'm never too sure about my dates even though a scan at 12weeks said EDD 4 Jan, going by LMP its 14 Dec, and m/w thinks baby will come somewhere in the middle.

Totally normal. If it is leaking enough to start showing through get some breast pads to put in your bra now (if they are I would go the washable way - will save you heaps in he long run).

Don't worry about it. Like becks said get some washable breast pads, they are cheap. I thought I wasn't leaking enough to show through clothes then one random day I had a wet spot on my top.. luckily I was at work not home, otherwise how embarrassing! hehe

Hi emz. I was exactly the same. Started leaking about around 15-16 weeks and just about fell over with shock!. I thought you didn't start leaking until your were 30+ weeks! Mine actually continued throughout the pregnancy and was never a major problems I got some washable pads from honeychild (fuzzibunz) that are fantastic!
My m/w told me when it started that it probably meant I would have a good milk supply and boy was that true, so there is definitley a bright side

I started leaking early to but i didnt leak enough till the end for me to ahve to get breast pads.
i dont read to much into what i read about when things should and shouldnt be happening etc cuase we're all different.
I agree with it meaning a good milk supply with Haleigh I didnt leak til towards the end and I didnt have alot but this time round I noticed I was forever full and I still leak every now and then, but I couldve noticed it more cause I wasnt able to feed him.
