    Posted: 04 August 2007 at 3:39pm
So had my MW appointment yesterday and she told me baby was fully engaged and said something along the lines of D2.

She would not tell me if this meant anything about when baby would come

Does anyone have anymore light they can shed on this

your ticker isn't working for me so I can't see how far along u r but i'm guessing around 37 weeks? I think I was kinda engaged at 35 weeks, fully engaged at 38 weeks but then my toad popped back up and turned posterior at 39w2days but then she turned back at some point and she was born 2 days later.

It doesn't really mean a great deal when bubs engages later on, she could come tomorrow she could come next month (but hopefully not ) Some babies don't engage until labour and some are engaged for months.

It mostly means that baby is in good place for labour, although it is possible for him/her to 'pop out' of place... but not likely. They never really know how long it will be from then until labour; some babies don't even engage until labour. So good luck for the big day, make sure you have things ready but don't start phoning the family yet

I know MW's measure 'engagement' in terms of 'stations'...I think it goes if you're negative station something, baby is not engaged, once you are positive station something (like it sounds you are) then babe is engaged. Bubs never engaged with me and they called it 'station -2' hence why I needed the emergency c-sec - she just wasn't coming out on her own!
