Not sure if I'm in the right place..?? I'm a first time user of MCN's and loving them..!!!!

However, they are really smelling very bad..! I use Baby First nappies with microfleece liners.. I use a dry pail and wash every 2nd day and once in a while throw in a lid of dettol into the fabric softner part on washing machine.

They're washed on warm wash..

As soon as my son does a wee in his nappy it STINKS of strong urine - almost like mouse wee.. It's now starting to make his skin a bit smelly too..

Help please..!!??? What can I do to get the smell out..? Or are they gonna be like this forever..?

A strip wash should help. Hot water, white vinegar and baking soda......soak overnight, rinse, wash in hot with tiny amount of powder or good handful of baking soda, double rinse then hang in direct sunlight.
Check out thenappynetwork.org.nz for more info.

hi, am going to strip my pocket nappies today as they are smelling a bit uriney (if that's a word lol), after 15months of being used and never stripped lol, im going to use the baking soda and white vinegar, just wondering if u put it all in the middle of the adjudicator like you do powder or in with the nappies or put the white vinegar in the fabric softer bit?

When I do a strip wash I put the baking soda in the machine as it fills, add the inserts (don't soak the outers!!) then pour the vinegar in, let the machine go for a minute or 2 too thoroughly mix everything up, then stop the machine and soak for the day/overnight. Then I let the machine finish out the cycle (with outers), then rinse again. If that doesn't work I do another hot wash with baking soda and put vinegar in the fab softener part.
And I always put the nappies through a rinse cycle before washing or striping, to get as much urine out as possible.

My hemp inserts smeel heaps too or it could just be Ben's wee?? They don't all smell, just the really full ones. I always wash with white vinegar and my hm washing powder is half baking soda. So do I still need to strip my inserts??
