Ben has done so well reaching 14mths but alas he has his first cold, runny nose, green slime, generally grumpiness.

So I'm new to all this, last night I gave him a teaspoon of pamol and he slept ok till about 5 , hes just soo grumpy today

What else can I do to make him feel better and is it ok to give him pamol again tonight I'm not to keen on the medicating thing? What else can I give him?

Thanks Ladies

If his nose gets blocked a few drops of saline solution should help, but then if it gets too runny you can get Junior which dries things up really well to help them breathe. You can get it just from the chemist but it might also be cheaper by prescription. You could also try rubbing some Vicks Baby Balsam on his chest before bedtime too.

Wow that was a good run to 14 months! Alyssa is just getting over her second cold and I kind of picked up some tips from the first time around so we were prepared for it this time... We elevated her cot at the head end with yellow pages, Kavol under her sheet (it's a eucalyptis oil to help them breathe easier), vicks baby balsam for her chest and finally pamol to keep the temp down.. That combo has worked well for us this time around anyway... Good luck.

I was going to suggest what pepsi just said. Lockie has picked up a cold and woke at 4am coughing, wasn't going to get up at that time and gave him some pamol and he slept till 7.30am. He had been pretty grumpy last couple of days now I know why - thought it was teeth as he has 2 cutting at the moment as well. Also if Ben is still in a cot you could elevate it and that helps too.

Wow we seem to have become an expert with colds and many other numerous things...maybe not an expert as they keep reappearing!
We also do the same as Pepsi, elevate bed (LOL also with Yellow pages) karvol on sheet next to head. Can also be used on their Pj's
We have also taken Tyrell into the bathroom after we have a shower when it is all steamy.

I hope your little 1 is feeling better soon!

Well I think my boy might finally be on the improve, today we were getting a clear runny nose compared to the lovely green one we have been getting!! Took him to the doctors on Tuesday and he gave us a course of antibiotics seen it had been over a week since he had had it, also he had an inflamed ear and throat. So yay back to a decent night sleep!!

How's all your little ones now?
