    Posted: 07 November 2006 at 3:08pm
Just wondering how long on average other 2 year olds sleep for during the day?
Ella will often happily sleep for 3 hours which I certainly don't mind, but others seem surprised by.
She sleeps for about 10 hours overnight, so is 13 hours sleep a day too much for a 2 year old?

i've often wondered the same about jack. he sleeps from 7.30-8pm til 6.30-7am and usually 3hrs during the day also....although he has days where he doesn't sleep at all! like today
i feel that if they are happily sleeping that much, then it's fine

my boy will be three on sat and if he has a nap (not every day) it can last up to FOUR hours... and he's mostly normal... my younger one tho will only sleep for an hour during the day. so luck of the draw really.

Kobe has always had a good 2-3 hours during the day. Problem is now he is getting older it means if he sleeps during the day he is a mission to get to bed at night but if you arent having any problems then I wouldnt be changing her routine

That's what my Hannah was doing until a few months ago... so like from 2 to 2 1/2. It's lov-er-ly! A lot of people are surprised that she still sleeps during the day (only about an hour or hour and a half now though), but I guess it's just one of those things that varies from person to person.

Han sleeps for an awfully long time in the afternoon these days and then I have the same prob as Robyn - she's an absolute terror to get to bed at night. So I've started not letting her sleep past 3.45. (She usually goes to bed before 1pm)

But if it ain't broke don't fix it!

Jake has a three hour or so nap - after lunch. If he's been at playcentre it is usually longer, or too hyped to sleep. he goes to bed usually at 7, although has been recently knocking at the door at 7:10pm, and then wanders out saying "hello, what doing?" then demands some milk and sits down to watch shortland street. will go to bed at 7:30 though. He wakes up around 6am - earlier if Taine is noisy.

Charlotte naps from 1.30-2 til 4-4.30 every afternoon and then sleeps 7-7 each night. So 14-15 hours each day for a 2 1/2 year old! Some people just need more sleep than others- she is very active and we never force her to bed so its just the way she works.

Boy is 2yrs and 4months and rarely has any day sleep but always 12hours overnight. I'm guessing there'll be a day sleep when excitment of kindy starts.

Ella usually will sleep an hour - an hour and a half during the day. However, any sign of teething and she won't sleep that day.. today was an example.
I feel really sorry for her, and give her all the teething meds, but this kid seems to have a really hard time with it. She also wakes at night when she is teething too.

Her bedtime/wake up time varies and in the summer we keep her up later to go out to bbqs/outdoor concerts etc etc which doesn't affect her sleep too much. She is a pretty easy going kid, but we've contributed to it as we take her with us pretty much everywhere we go

Hehe Nikki- she comes from a Mum who also needs her sleep! I think its a self preservation thing- if I'm tired, I'm an ogre. It can be annoying when we want to go out for the day as she can't go without her sleep so we either have to come home or be somewhere where she can sleep. Its great at the moment though because I'm so tired/sick so I've been napping in the afternoons with her!
