Hi all,
My little girl is now 8 months old and very mobile. She is standing and crawling and getting up and down very easily - not far from walking. We are currently (reluctantly) training her to sleep using the Cry it Out method as she has been partying too hard at night since she hit 4 months and won't co-sleep either.
She has always wriggled to the TOP of the cot, not downward like most babies. She wakes herself up practising crawling etc often and is just so wriggly that she bangs her head against the bars A LOT. This wakes her up, and she sometimes ends up sleeping with her head against the cot bars. I have to reposition her a fair bit.
I have just purchased, but not opened, a Living Textiles cot bumper which I hoped would make her Touchwood cot a bit cosier and less bump-prone. However it says on the label NOT to use once baby can sit up and especially once she can stand up.
I know there is a lot of negative press out there for cot bumpers, but I thought the older the baby the safer it would be - so I waited but now I am thoroughly confused. In no way do I want to jeopardise my little girl's safety - she's the light of my life.
Does anyone use a cot bumper? Has anyone used one or known someone who used one safely or unsafely? I'd really appreciate your feedback - thank you in advance.
Our little one kept bumping his head on the hard cot bars and we brought these amazing Pure Safety Vertical Cot Liners. They zip onto each cot rail, so there are no dangerous ties etc https://babytoolbox.co.nz/collections/vertical-crib-liners Hope that helps x
