Topic: 2 y.o. vomiting :( Posted: 28 September 2006 at 9:12am |
My 2 1/2 year old vomitted all of Sunday, then a bit on Tuesday afternoon, and now consistently since Wednesday afternoon (yes, through the night too ).
When should I be worried about how long this has gone on for? And have you ever had a 2y.o. with dehydration? I'm worried that she's chucking more than she's taking in.
You know how it is Mums... I've got a Doc appointment booked for 3pm today but that doesn't ease my mind for the remaining 6 hours

I think seeing the Doc is a good idea. I heard that there are some funny bugs going around at the moment and every kid I know is sick.....nothing major but still.
I hope She is feeling better soon. And keep us updated as to what the Doc has said!!

as long as she is still at least drinking if not eating and still having lots of wet nappies then she will be alright but yeah definatly take her to the doctor to get it checked out. I know there is a rotovirus going round atthe moment too, its at our preschool

Thanks, she's drinking very little and vomiting straight after, most times . She's been hungry today but when she gets to the table she says "I feel sick, I think I lie down" and goes back to the couch.
It's hard to tell about wees because she is toilet trained. She's not going very often though. <sigh> 4 hours to go...

Well only an hour to go. I hope she is managing to keep a bit more fluids down now. Do you have any iceblocks? They're great or rehydration coz you have to suck them quite slowly so they tend to stay down a little better.
Good luck at the doctors!

Well I took her to the Doc and her fluids seem to be okay, he didn't think it was a problem that she had only been once to the toilet all day - just so long as she did. And she still has tears etc.
His advice: keep up the Phenergan (medicine we got for her last time she was vomiting and what I have been using a bit), expect one more rough night, and she'll probably come clear after tomorrow morning.
I don't have any iceblocks. It's cold!! and I'm trying to let our fridge and freezer empty before we move in two weeks' time. But I went and bought some apple juice today so she can start to come right on diluted apple juice tomorrow.
She's been chucking only a couple of times this arvo so I'm feeling a lot better already. And yay, no hospital visit (for fluids)

Well we had a great night and only some dry-reeching this morning. And that's all with no medicine since 5.30 last night. So yay, the end is in sight.
Amazing how much taller she looks now that she's lost a bit of puppy fat though lol
