Topic: Fundraising Sausage Sizzle Posted: 26 January 2011 at 4:39pm |
I am organising a fundraising sausage sizzle for Playcentre at a local Mitre 10. I am stuck on how many sausages to get, we will likely be there all day. Has anyone done one before? How many sausages do you recommend getting?
TIA

I can't help with the amount of sausages sorry, but as a fellow Westie do let us know where and what date so we can support you - I'll never turn down a sausage sizzle!

Yup, Local butcher, we used Mad Butcher for our sausage sizzle about 4 years ago, from memory we spent about $150 on sausages and used them all! (And we got a deal too). And if you are stuck for bread, try bakeries, I know the one I used to work in would save left over bread at the end of the day in the freezer for sausage sizzles, school fairs and did discount prices too.

My DD's marching team regularly does them. They usually do 200 sausages, 5kg chopped onions and 10-12 loaves of sandwich sliced white bread. Hope that helps.

I couldn't find anything on the Huttons/Goodman Fielder website. I did see something on the Hellers website but they only do it for schools

We got our sausages from the mad butchers (if you do a sausage sizzle outside their shops they donate the sausages for free, you just have to buy the bread and sauces through them).
Anyway we did our bbq outside bunnings and we went through 400 sausages and 12 loaves of bread and a heap of onions...we were there from 9.30-4pm sold them for $1.50 each and we also brought the cans of drink from the warehouse and sold them for $1.50 as well and they were popular...we just kept them in a chilly bin filled with ice.
after expenses were taken out we made $600 profit for the day...not bad going yah

if you have couplands in your area they do a deal on bread.
something like $1.20 per loaf if you buy so many of them.

No Couplands around here.
I know our local-ish Mad Butcher does fundraising pricing so will go to them, just wanted an idea of how many sausages we might need. Thanks heaps for the feedback
