This is for all the ladies who have been trying for what seems like an eternity. I need to vent.

We have been 'seeing what happens' for a year and charting/trying for another year. NOTHING is happening.
I have low progesterone issues, I have been bracing myself for miscarriages but absolutely nothing is happening (to my knowledge). I am completely dormant and my mind feels like it needs to flip some tables!
And of course everyone around me is accidentally getting pregnant...

Were you a positive and happy-go-lucky person before all this baby trying business which turned you into a green eyed monster?

Love from,
Mrs. trying to stay positive

Yes yes yes!!
I'm particularly feeling this today, we have been trying since November last year and we are so ready for it. I'm starting to embark on the doctor route but its so frustrating, finally coming off the pill after 10 years and it not happening.
Also, finally met my stepsisters daughter last night, she's 7 months old and adorable!! But now it has got my dad and his partner hinting pretty strongly that its our turn which makes it even harder! I'm starting to think I have PCOS, I'm on the waiting list for a scan but I'm thinking about paying and going privately. We are out this cycle for sure as we didn't BD at the right time (DH and I were fighting and the principle was too important to give up for the sake of BDing for yet another unsuccessful month) but I'm going to try soy isoflavones next cycle and if that doesn't work I will pay for the scan.
Whew! Quite a novel! Anyway yes beansprout, I'm totally in this boat too.
What's next for you?

We've been trying for 5 years and found out last year our only way is IVF.

The last year has been the worst ever - struggling SO much with it all and my bestie is pregnant (after trying for 2 months so lucky) and the green eyed monster is well and truly out there! I'm finding it hard because in the 5 years we've been TTC that awful horrible monster of a person has only started to come out in the last few months and it's heartbreaking! I don't want to be "that person"!
TTC 6 years
IVF it is
IVF/ICSI round one
10 eggs, 8 mature, 3 fertilised BFN
IVF/ICSI #2 = 22 eggs!
20 mature, 15 fertilised, 1 fresh transfer and 2 frosties
BFN
2 Frosties still in freezer thank god

I'm glad I'm not the only one out there but I feel for you ladies!

Epictraveller - I am chugging along with my natural progesterone cream and BBT charting, it's my first month doing it so hopefully it works! If nothing happens in the next 6 months, my doc wants me to come back to talk about more serious meds (which I REALLY don't want). I hope you get your scan and figure out what's going on! Baby dust!

IVFGirl - Oh the green eyed monster is terrible! It was the last straw for me when I heard another person is having a baby accidentally, it was about the 5th I'd heard of in that one small month! Let's just take a deep breath together, have a big cry and carry on. It's going to happen for us!! All the best with your IVF

Hi beansprout - rather than waiting 6 months, then having to consider medical options, have you considered going down the alternative health route?

Accupuncture can be really helpful, espcially when you have someone who specialises in fertility, (but you do need to go regularly), also going to a natural health practitioner and checking out any deficiences you may have (they will send you for blood tests) is a concrete step you can take. They will ususally prescribe about 3 months of pre-conception dietary recommendations and supplements, plus work on any other issues.

I think it's best to see an expert before taking anything, as one supplement that will work for one person, may exacerbate issues for another.

After (amazingly) easily getting pregnant using a donor, I had two miscarriages at 12 weeks (within a 5 month period), the doctors would not investigate till I'd had 3. Grrrr standard practise. So I took matters into my own hands and went to Loula George at Motherwell in Mt Eden, Auckland. She sent me off for a stack of blood tests and it came back that I have hugely elevated levels of thyroid antibodies (but a general thyroid blood test wont show them up, so she had to specifically ask for that test). We are now detoxing my body and I'm on a number of supplements to build up my thyroid and other related organs, so hopefully this treatment (which she has successfully used with a lot of other women with the same issue), will result in us getting a baby to keep too!

I hear you on the jealousy! As well as my best friend conceiving her 2nd child in the same week as we conceived the first baby, my brother and his wife conceived their first the week after (the first grandchild in our family), so both of those babies were born in March (the week before and the week after ours was due). Then with my second pregnancy another good friend conceived 2 weeks before me, so her baby is due in just over a month. Constant reminders of what we have missed out on :-(

Hope we all get our much awaited babies soon!

Oh yeah the green eyed monster lives here too!!! I used to read blogs and on here about people who were upset and frustrated and really down and think that I was glad that I didn't feel that way then slowly but surely little things happened here and there and bam the monster arrived!

Over our nearly 3yrs of ttc I had things that were like 'omg I will so be gutted if x gets pregnant before me' you know...people who you'd never have thought and guess what every single one of the things I didn't want to happen has (including my younger brother and his gf being currently pregnant with the fecking first grandchild..grrrr).
Its hard but I figure with the final thing happening that I've hit rock bottom so up must be the only way!

So in my round about long winded way I'm saying - I hear you and it sucks butt...

Aw Babycrazy - I read your story about your brother recently and I am so sorry.

I'm the oldest, and I will be the third to have a child - and that is assuming we get utd soon, and that my single sister, and youngest sister don't fall pregnant first.

As for envy - I was actually wondering something today - when women who have heart breaking tales of loss and infertility, share that they are envious of pregnant friends, they seem to always seem to be blasted (I learned my lesson when I mentioned infertility awareness on my facebook, even though I am secret squirrel and didn't mention that I am affected by recurrent loss)
I can understand that jealousy isn't pleasant, and I realise that it may make mothers feel uncomfortable - but I do not comment when people complain on facebook about their pregnancy or child, even though I find that makes me feel uncomfortable.

You're definitely not alone Bean Sprout - TTC since Oct 2010...and ALL my friends are either UTD or just popped (seriously 3/4 bridesmaids, plus another 3 women at our wedding in April...plus 4 women at work)...

This journey has changed me in ways I'd have rather not have experienced - self doubt, self loathing, guilt/blame and non stop cycle of hope and dissappointment...

I wouldn't wish IF on even my worst enemy...

Lots of love to all of you lovely ladies for sharing your experiences.

I think one of the most frustrating things is being told to relax... I am incognito about my IF like @mintyfresh except I told my mum and sister who keep telling me to forget about it and relax.
I try to explain that forgetting about it is near impossible when I have to chart and take cream and put all the extra effort in because I have issues!

And totally, @babycrazy, the 'I'm going to flip a table if x gets pregnant before me' is something I wouldn't have thought was within me! The green eye'd monster is such an ugly side effect.

I'm really feeling for my partner who I'm trying hard not to bring down; thank god he is such a positive man!

@Pepibebe Thanks for all the helpful info, we are planning on visiting the naturopath soon. I am going to my chiropractor and interestingly enough I have had problem areas in my L3 which affect the sex organs! I found that extremely interesting so yes getting acupuncture is definitely on my list of things to try

On the facebook thing - there have been many times where I have been soooo tempted to tell someone to be ever so thankful for the pregnancy they have instead I unsubscribe. My close friends aren't ones to complain about things like that via FB its more the outer fringe people I know lol.

Beansprout - who do you do your cream through? Up until a few weeks ago I was doing the progesterone cream too but have stopped because we're going to see a fertility specialist in August.

I get my cream from here:
http://nz.store.wellsprings-health.com/

They are all about menopause on the site but I just use it in the luteal phase to help fertility. It's my first month using it so I'm hopeful!

I was working with Patient Advocates in Tauranga. I noticed a huge change in my PMS once using the progesterone so am a believer in it for sure. Hope it helps you.

Hi all pretty ladies,
Well I just looked to see when I last signed in and it was Dec 11 2011.
Well I would love to chat to more that are going through what I am. So undecided on what to do.
I have had 2 IVF cycles and both turned to BNF's
So do I try again or do I look down donor egg.I have public funding for either choices and I feel I want to start again soon as I have rested for over year and nothing has happened naturally either :(

Me 27
1#IVF July 10 BNF no frosties
2#IVF Mar 11 BNF no frosties

4x4 sorry to hear how hard its been for you. Are you under public funding or private for IVF? Am only just embarking on that side of the journey myself so not sure what advice to give...did they have a reason for it not working or is just dumb luck?
